A good rule of thumb is 1.5 x out the predicted altitude. I usually don’t even start really looking until I’ve gotten out that far. For that matter, I’ll wander around for an hour or so and then give up… Read more»

I always look 1.3 x altitude.I chased my Toothless out about 4500 feet on a 4000 foot flight Saturday just before they began shutting down the range. Ken R. always tells me to look further out than you think it… Read more»

Thanks Steve, yeah I looked on that line on Sunday, and still did not find it. I was only looking about 1/2 mile (2600 feet) out, as this is what my simulation was saying (3000 feet, assuming about 15mph wind),… Read more»

Adrian, I found it, and tried to bring it back. One I figured out that was not possible, I tried to mark it well for you. It was a pretty little black carbon fiber flower sticking up on the prairie.

Thanks guys, it was good to be back out again! He doesn’t have a 54mm cone listed, that is kind of a bummer.

And the 38mm is a 7:1 Von Karman, the only one commercially available as far as I know. I happened to buy one last night, as a matter of fact.

Yep, Jeff makes a good cone. I have a 54mm and a 75mm, and they look great. I also like the long aspect ratio of 6:1 that Jeff uses.Good to see you up on the prairie yesterday, amigo.

Hoppe’s #9… I never would have thought of it thought it makes total sense. The smell alone is nostalgia of going shooting with my dad too.
