Lots of great ways to make centering rings. The real question is what size are you thinking about. I have a plunge router and Jasper Circle jig that is great for larger rings – i.e larger than 4″. These things… Read more»

Motor ejection of the drogue can often do more harm than good… Altimeters like Adrian’s (and others) are so reliable that you don’t have to worry about motor ejection. If / when you use it, the darned motor always seems… Read more»

8) Skip the drough chute. Too much trouble for to little gain. Pop it and just let her fall. Glass rockets are way tough. The main will do the work. IMHO

If you’re using altimeter apogee deployment, you don’t have to drill anything out; just leave the delay/smoke in place and just skip the step where you add the BP. If you want to eliminate the possible failure mode of a… Read more»

Don’t forget, there’s also TRA (Tripoli Rocketry Assn.) as another national organization.TRA vs. NAR is a choice you can make, based upon where you’d like to go in rocketry. NAR is excellent for competition, low and mid power, and supports… Read more»

I always go on the long side for mach delay. I always set it to at least the length of the motor burn, plus a couple more seconds on a slow rocket. On a fast (near-mach) rocket, I’ll usually set… Read more»

I too use a mach delay, although I tend to compute the length based on the simulated time above mach plus about 4 seconds. I don’t think I’ve had one longer than 18 seconds, but I’m not sure. I use… Read more»

I agree with Edward. I use mach delays all the time, even on sub-mach flights. On a lot of my minimum diameter stuff that has high velocity I’ll set them to 25 seconds. The first time I did that, I… Read more»

I set the Mach delay for rockets going better than 200 mph. I use the time the sim says until the rocket has decelerated to ~.5 Mach. This can be quite long sometimes. I do not trust Rocksim – I… Read more»
