We get Peterbilt windshields that are seperated by strips ofsemi hard rubber. I glued this rubber to the sled and recessedthe altimeter. Not real pretty but secure. I will retain the altimeterin the rubber with a rubber band. The battery… Read more»

I use either steel or nylon standoffs and make my sleds out of G10.Warren

so i have a question on mounting. Do you guys use a rubber grommet or something to stand the altimeter off of the board a bit? Or just screw it right to the plywood sled?

I’ve never had one fail that I know of, but mostly I use redundant matches and redundant altimeters except on altitude shots so it’s entirely possible I’ve had matches fail. My SSS bird could well be buried 3′ deep in… Read more»

Personally, I use Daveyfire 28-B for the most part although I also have a pile of 28BR’s… best ematchs going. Oxrals are also reliable. I haven’t used Mteks very much in flight, though used them a bunch for ground testing… Read more»

You want to use an e-match, NOT an igniter. There are a variety out there if you can find them. Giant Leap sells M-Tek’s on occasion. Others to keep an eye out for are Oxral, Daveyfire, and others as well…. Read more»
