I can’t get 300 – even a MD rocket with no payload will only do 230 on the I1299. I can get a solid 90-100 gees with the J1999 though, and I’ll do one better than just no broken shell:… Read more»

If it’s an organized event, I’ll go H999. Otherwise, if it’s just kind of a fun event, I’ll go J1999. So, which will it be As for the yolk thing, I theoretically got an egg to well over 300 gees,… Read more»

We talked about this last time–the consensus was the yolk didn’t matter. If the shell was intact, got a green. I thought and maybe chris has proved me wrong that keeping the yolk intact would require an extra “spring” in… Read more»

I think to start with, it is probably going to be a bigger challenge just to figure out how to pack an egg in a rocket flown on an H999. I’ll bet the yolk breaks inside the egg.Warren

OK, just bring it to the dinner then. I’ll bring the (unflown) blue case, and we can do a trade. Have you disassembled it yet? Did the delay element burn completely?

It was 2 years ago at Balls that set the hook in this trout: I’d been to several NCR launches, but nothing had prepared me for the cosmic experience there. The plan to fly mostly G thru I with an… Read more»

I generally build as you’ve described in #1 unless there is a very good reason not to. I would expect that if you are careful with the epoxy it shouldn’t add too much unnecessary weight.

Might be time for another order from BMS. I’ve got enough 24mm tubing for 6 medium length motor mounts ( 1x 34in tube). Should just order some of their foil-lined stuff so it holds up a little longer.Ken

Well, any one of those methods would survive, but I would go with #1. As Doug said, you’ll have plenty of oomph to get it moving 🙂

Doug Gerrard replied to the topic "construction prep – fincan" – 6 years, 10 months ago
I would go with option 1 because you should have more than enough oomph to worry about weight. The H242 is a pretty kick butt motor and should get you cert 1. Build strong and go with option 1. Good… Read more»

Doug Gerrard replied to the topic "construction prep for airstarts?" – 6 years, 10 months ago
It sort of depends on how long the runs are but I have used about 1/4″ ID tube for 30″ long runs for a single e-match wires with no problems. I would think for short runs (I guessing you have… Read more»

I’m going to get some small fiberglass tubing at the local kite store. Can someone who’s done airstarts let me know what size (ID) I need to fit a pair of ematch wire pairs through (4 conductors per conduit)? I’m… Read more»

As John said, you really don’t need to push it from the bottom. All of my DD rockets push from the E-bay, and work fine. My deuce pushes the drogue from the e-bay, and separates at the same point, relying… Read more»
