Oh – absolutely agreed, which is why I stated it would be an interesting and challenging attempt, but doable.

Maybe Xman can post some construction info. 80+ # of thrust for an up til now E flyer seems strong, but if everything is epoxied and the fins aren’t balsa or bass, it has a chance.J

He could do 3 H128’s.That’s still within the limits of L1.Still, it is definitely a challenge, and would make for an interesting cert attempt.

Well xman’s project just got a lot more interesting, assuming the usual equilateral triangular cluster, the X has no choice but to swap rockets–maybe for economy a separate fin can that keeps all else the same, or gulp, cluster H’s…. Read more»

However, not on 3 G’sIt has to have one motor in the cluster at least that is in the certifying class. So an H and 2 G’s would be OK, but not 3 G’s.

Xman,Love to be a witness, but make sure that there is nothing that prohibits flying a cluster for L1. I know its an issue later on, but can’t recall re L1.J

Another (much cheaper) option than the first fires are Quickburst. Unfortunately, they are gone until the first of may, so so may have to eat the cost of the first fires for Mayhem, and then go to the others later.Another… Read more»

Thanks. I was wondering about the ignitors – I read they weren’t too reliable. Didn’t know about the level 1 cert though. I’ll get my paperwork in order for that. Interested in being a witness?

oh, and xman, whatever you do with your cluster, do not, repeat, do not attempt to use the copperhead igniters for your cluster. They simply aren’t reliable enough. And of course a cluster of 3 G’s would require a… Read more»

yeah – those are motor casings. John (I assume) was asking about reloads. Also, good luck with mile hi mayhem, and trust me, you’ll be hooked :)Someday, you’ll think of G’s as the motor you launch when you can’t afford an… Read more»

I did go to the HT on 92nd. Didn’t notice any K’s. In fact, I wouldn’t know one if I saw it 😀 . Did see alot of anodized aluminum stuff though. I’m pretty new to the larger rockets. Growin… Read more»

Agree with CJL. Not only that TRA may follow CAR’s (Canada Assoc Rocketry) and disallow them on all H and above birds, so you may end up having to retrofit ayway. Hobbytown has some nice “rail lugs” for a few… Read more»

Theoretically, a 3/8 or 1/2 inch lug would be fine.Realitically, throw the lugs away and switch to rails. They whip less, are easy to use, and the buttons add less drag and impact the appearance a lot less.Overall, they’re a… Read more»

Start by throwing the lug away and switch to rail buttons Seriously, the issue isn’t so much length as distance between the two rail guides / launch lugs. For a rocket that size, don’t just use one. One rail… Read more»
