Members and Friends,
SATURDAY ONLY. There are some complications with our logistics. We are GO for SATURDAY ONLY.
The Ranger says they have no reason to doubt we may proceed with the rocket launch as planned, following normal precautions. Given the recent rains, it warrants mentioning that the ground may be soft out there. Vehi…[Read more]

Tim, the only “con” I have is regarding the LCD screen, which can be hard to see in bright light. I’ve only used it with the Red Bee receiver and a Garmin handheld GPS to enter the coordinates, but it works.

I’m thinking of using a Big Red Bee 900 MHz GPS locator for my Level 2 Certification flight. I like the idea of the handheld base station receiver with the LCD display the rocket’s GPS coordinates without the need for a computer in the field. I found a free cell phone based app that will direct one to a set of GPS coordinates once entered.
I’m…[Read more]

At MHM last month, I believe the air frame did not separate at apogee, and the bird came in hot. Main deployed at ~ 800′ and the harness failed. I found the nosecone and main chute about 600 yards South of County Road 122 (Grover Road), almost exactly South by Southeast of the launch site (about 1.6 miles from the pads – I believe it went at l…[Read more]

I have used Blue Tube for A/V bays and motor mount tubes, it’s a good material. I also have several sections of 6″ Blue Tube that I intend to use as an airframe for a scratch build cluster project. I just need to find a good way to cut fin slots.
Also, I have friends who have used Blue Tube as an airframe and have had no trouble.
However – I h…[Read more]

Hi,
I have a 3″ dia Blue Tube about 4′ long which I bought many years ago from Apogee Components. Just wondering if anyone has had experiences positive or negative using this material. I’m considering putting it together with a payload bay and 38mm motor mount, with fiberglass fins and bulkheads. I know I could go 54 mm, but I’d like to take…[Read more]

That was a nice as I’ve seen that launch site maybe ever for Mayhem. I wasn’t able to camp this time around but it sure was great to get up there and see everybody. Thanks a ton to those who were able to do set up and take down. Great to see you all out there again!

Rough calculations have been made, and MAYHEM really did happen. Over the three clear and sun drenched days, a total of somewhere over 60 different fliers put up something like 241 flights (145 Class One, 96 Class Two), including a few L1 Certifications, a Jr. L1 Certification, 6 M powered flights and 2 N powered flights. Huge thanks to Colin A…[Read more]

Friday morning was breezy until about 11:00am.
It was calm from noon to 6pm, then heavy gusts and peraistant wind from about 7pm until past midnight.
Saturday is starting out with light gusts, as of 9am things seem to be calming down.

I’ve installed a new plugin to the website that will allow us to do volunteer sign-up sheets.
For now, this is the only way to get to the page:
https://ncrocketry.club/volunteer-sign-up/I’ve created a Friday sign-up sheet, I will add Saturday and Sunday.
