No worries, I didn't know Joe didn't stock the big stuff, but I know Tim can get anything and he has been VERY helpful to me, so I wanted to make sure he didn't get overlooked.
2 cents worth. If you're flying high, AMW, Cess, or LOKI, accept no substitutes. Smoke and lots of it--can visually track to 30, 40 or 50K in good sky. AT at least in their smaller motors--haven't seen many of their L+, lose smoke altogether about mid delay and come on with a weenie trail at the end. For most anything but a lob, I'll trade color for smoke anyday.

I would agree with the smoke for great visabillity as well as an awesome effect. Nothing like a big round blast of smoke suuronding the launch pad before the long trek to the sky with a brilliant smoke trail following the rocket to the hevans.. Thus another reason I chose the N2020 White Wolf.. Plus at 14k I still should have some visibillity from it..
Con,
Non issue there--AMW smoke is good well beyond 30K. Look like a jet contrail,

Denverdoc, how do you know the smoke goes "well over 30K". I would be really surprised if you can still see it (the somke and rocket).
I don't know about 30k, but you can easily see the smoke from an AMW motor (tracking smoke) through at least 25k...
The rocket may be harder to spot, but the smoke trail will be there.
You know, as far as the smoke altitude goes, seems kind of like something that depends on what kind of day it is more that anything. Probably a dead end conversation.
Bruce, anything Doug says is definitely good advice and I agree with every bit of it because he has had more experience with 75mm loads form both AMW and AT than almost anyone in this hobby.
I would basically decide which flavor of motor you like the best (White, Green, Sparky, ect.) and then see which one works the best in your rocket and gives you the better outcome.

I agree about Doug, Art. He's one of the few like James Russell, when they speak, you better listen. 🙂
