Hello Everyone,

I just thought I’d post a quick update. I’m posting here rather than the CAR-ACF Forum as it will be of interest to many.

I was at the CTI facility with Bob and Jeroen this past weekend (Saturday to Tuesday) and we fired over 130 motors in the test session. It was like Christmas, with something for everyone. We fired motors from the new line of Pro24 to the mighty Pro150. A number of propellants were fired, including more Green3 and a new (as yet un-named) propellant. There were short burn (Vmax), long burns (a variety of sizes and flavours) and even a dual-thrust. The Pro150 Skidmark was the largest Skid I’ve ever seen, shaking this observer from several hundred feet away. CAR-ACF President Angelo Castellano stopped in for a short visit Sunday afternoon, just in time to watch the Pro150 Skidmark, and help extinguish the many sparks. We had a hose too, but it was great to see Angelo so adept on his feet. J

Special thanks to Bob Pouliot and Dr. Jeroen Louwers for all their hard work, especially on the weekend, and certainly for all the work leading up to the session. I would be remiss not to also thank the other folks at CTI for their hard work as well. Some of the motors we tested this session were literally just minutes away from the final assembly step of production.

I took photos of at least a few of each motor, as well as HD video of every firing. I’m not sure yet how best to share those, but I’ll keep you posted. I plan to select photos of representative burns to go with the certification information n the CARWEB, under Motor Testing as usual. I’ll post a note here when they are posted to CARWEB.

It’s kind of funny – a few years ago, it was a real challenge to get mid-power and high-power motors. The challenge today is to decide which one to try.
