Always easier to adapt a motor tube down a size than up. Estes has a simple product that surrounds the motor and does just that. They already have sleeves that make an 13mm motor fit comfortable in an 18mm tube, and an 18mm sleeve type adaptor that fits comfortably in a 24mm motor tube. Soon there will be a sleeve that surrounds the 24mm motor to fit comfortably in the 29mm tube. Next size up make sense. I've got a crazy idea of splitting a tube so I can easily fit a 29mm motor in the 38mm airframe. Otherwise, all manner of possibilities to make this contest a challenge. Same airframe, different internals and possibly a sealed bay to add/subtract necessary weight for balancing. But Bear has the right approach. Quit now while you're ahead of the field.

I agree with Joe completely, and want to emphasize what he said, because of his great wisdom and experience.

Other than that, I will not tell you that I have a cheap drill press, that I have a circle cutter for that drill press (up to 6 1/2" diameter). I will not tell you I buy large sheets of 1/8" and 1/4", also 1/2" plywood (depends on the motor size for which I would have used if I was doing something like this, which I am not) so I can cut rings out, (which I really did not do when we were building that big rocket in that hanger and that I made six sets of rings for motor adapters for the outside first stage motors).

I will also not mention that if you were to look in one of my tool boxes, you would find motor adapters for 18mm to 24mm, or 24mm to 29mm, 29mm to 38mm, 38mm to 54mm, or 75mm up to 98mm, or 75mm down to 65mm, or any size in between. And I am sure you would not see that they are in various lengths so that I can use spacers in long ones for short motors and vise versa so that I can adapt to just about any situation.

I would really suggest that you quit while you are already behind. 😈 😆

BOYS! BOYS! Such trash talking, and so early in the contest. NCR has needed 2 things, a great flying season and a good contest. I hope plenty more of the NCR faithful put their money where their rockets are. I know Dave Way has a prototype built, we will be testing it this weekend at the Brown Mud Test Range, just outside of Delta. And then there is my bird. I am WAY to humble to brag and say it will win, but I named it "Taken Candy from Babies". 8)

Not to sound over confident, but I'm thinking of entering twice,(two different airframes) so I can double my chances of winning! And if Dave Way is playing, make sure Marshall isn't the chief architect/designer. That kid has some serious smarts. Yo Tim, no one likes "Sweet Tarts" or "Sour Apples" or those nasty "Lemon Heads".

Another great contest - name your rocket after nasty Halloween Treats - like "Baby Ruthless" or "Three Rocketeers" or "Silky Way" or "Bit of Money". The posibilities are endless - "AP Joy" or "Mister Crash BAR".

Just wondering how I got Thrown into this conversation.
My prototype should be prototypes. And in the interest of unfairness, I am thinking of several identical airframes with different internals that can't be distinguished from one another.
What I can't achieve with my good looks and smart son, I can achieve with caginess and underhanded cunning.

Another way would be to have interchangeable guts for the same rocket. A couple of well concealed screws should do the trick, I would think, if I was thinking in that direction, which I am not.

If everyone would pay-up with their entry fees and then just drop out now, it would really reduce the amount of SyOps necessary and I could get back to work. KWIM (Know What I Mean). Then you can KYSAG (Kiss Your Sweet A** Goodbye) KWIM.

FWIW, I will not talk about your caginess and underhandedness if you will not talk about mine, as I deal from the bottom of the deck.
