I'm planning to head up early tomorrow morning, but weather forecasts are calling for crazy wind. Anyone know how today was?
Today (10-5-2007) was near perfest most of the day.
Tomarrow sounds like most of the day will be OK
Looks like it should be a good weekend actually. No winds till Sat later afternoon. Highs in the upper 70's sunday should be cooler but yet still doable
allright, thanks for the update. See you all tomorrow morning!
Weather was SUPERB Friday and Saturday until I left at 3PM. On my ride home to Longmont, winds picked up and there was a light breeze from the south as well as some upper level winds, but no one was walking miles to find their rockets. Many weathercocked into the wind a tad and then landed within 1/2 mile of the pad area.
It was a fantastic launch and although I didn't fly anything, I had a great time hanging out with folks, talking with people I see only at launches and wish we could do launches like these every month. Too much fun with flawless blue skies, perfect temps and lots of folks flying.
Thanks to all.
Warren
Your right Warren. Very nice launch. Like you I to didnt fly anything. I just helped others with there certs and projects. Got the chance to see and chat with good people. Plus my Daughter put up one heck of an L1 boost today doing it big on a CTI I motor on a quite very light and small rocket. From looks and the simms I ran. Should have been somewhere close to 4500 to 5000ft.
Weather forecast for Sunday is a bit cloudy, Colder with temps in the high 50's low 60's. early on some wind at about 9 to 10 mph. But flyable. Just keep your fingers crossed and hope for the best. Ive got some great motors planned and really wanna see them fly.
Warren / Conway,
You guys left just in time....
About 4:00 it began to really blow. A couple of easy-ups didn't fare too well. I was out retrieving a rocket when it started - so many thanks to Joe and Shirley for putting my things away.
I left a little after six and it was still blowing about 25-30 mph.
You never know about Pawnee. It could be gorgeous tomorrow.
Actually James and I didnt leave until about 4:30 and were there helping taking stuff down and helping people gather up stuff.
Really, though compared to our trip to LDRS and the wind/sand storms there on Sunday afternoon and all day Monday the wind on the Pawnee today was nothing. At LDRS it was so bad no kidding you couldnt see past 6 inches from your face.
But for what most here are used to it was plenty ugly out there. I hope most wont get discouraged and will see what happens tomorrow. Could end up quite nice. Or at least flyable.
This is the National Weather Service forecast as of 9:15 PM Saturday (10/06):
Tonight: A 20 percent chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 37. North northwest wind between 7 and 16 mph.
Sunday: A 20 percent chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 55. North wind around 6 mph becoming calm.
Sunday Night: Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly clear, with a low around 35. Southwest wind 5 to 10 mph becoming northwest.
Doesn't sound too bad at all!
