If we have the April Launch, I volunteer to drive the trailer out to the north site and will have it there by 8:30 am on Saturday, unless it is needed earlier.
I presume we are going to be go for it. I believe it received rain and snow last week and the fire danger has been listed as moderate. I can take it back to it's home on Sunday, also.
BEAR
Thank You Bear. I may have to work in the morning of that Saturday
but can come out later. If I do not work, I will be there for set-up.
You are the toe man of 2013. thanks
It has been wet around here. But after a storm, the next couple days
of wind dry's everything out. It's all in the timing.
I am assuming we have a tower this next weekend if I raise my Kestrel from the ashes? Just on a little "J" Just enough to jump over Mach1 to test my new "STRATO LOGGERS" WooHoooooooo!!!!!!! 😀
How big of a tower do you think you'll need? The small bicycle rim tower should still be in the trailer - the taller one should still be strapped on top.
Posting out the Go Notice tomorrow.
54mm Kestrel
Just to let all know.
Under 'back issues' on the Rockets Magazine web site is the February
2013 issue with Mark Lionberger's article about his 3/4 Nike.
For those who missed the launch, it was spectacular.

see ya
Spring has arrived on the prairie. If the weather cooperates, we have a GO for launch this Saturday, April 6th and Sunday April 7th from the North Site. Saturday will be for commercial motors only and Sunday will be for TRA Research. Expect the range and waiver (20,000’ AGL) to be operational by 9 AM.
An unusually dry winter and the recent sunny days have elevated the need for extra vigilance of the fire risks on the range. NCR is very aware of the dry conditions on the prairie and that there have already been several fires on the PNG since January.
NCR is an Authorized Permitee of the Pawnee National Grassland. A morning orientation briefing for participants will be held and will include a discussion of safety and emergency procedures, fire conditions and instruction, applicable rules and regulations, and what is expected of participants with regards to the use of NFS lands under our special use permit.
Please note that all launch events will be conducted using nationally approved/accepted range safety practices. The launching of rockets on NFS land is normally prohibited under a Forest Service Region 2 fire regulation. The issuance of NCR’s permit allows launches to take place by exempting the Holder from that regulation for approved launch events only. All launches, other than those conducted by the Holder during approved launch events, are outside the scope of this permit and are prohibited by Forest Service regulations.
As always, volunteers are needed to help with range set up, operation and clean up. Huge thanks to “Bear” for volunteering to tow both ways. Please contact Ed Dawson at volunteer@ncrocketry.org Hope to see you out on the range.
