what you're missing is that our space program is LAME. if we could go to the moon in the 60's w/out breaking the bank, why can't we do it now?
Two wars instead of just one, an economy in the dumper; besides, back in the 60's our space program created many, many jobs... now, money goes to defense instead of productive areas. Sad.
