The Boulder County 4H needs 1 or 2 judges for their annual rocket contest on July 30th from about 9:00 am to noon.
I was the Judge for this last year at the Boulder County Fairgrounds, but I can't do it this year. It's only for a few hours in the morning and it's alot of fun. Plus, the 4H Extension pays you for your time and you get to help all of the kids launch their rockets.
Anyone in the Boulder/Longmont area interested?
Thanks.
Ken P.
Ken,
Thank you for posting this request.
I'm the Superintendent for the Boulder County 4-H Rocket Shoot. As Ken stated, the shoot is held in the morning (this year on Thursday, July 30th) at the Boulder County Fairgrounds.
Ken was kind enough to help us out last year and Joe C. and Art the year prior. Ideally, it's always best to have someone that is knowledgeable and interested in Model Rocketry, but it really only needs to be someone (or 2) that has an interest in supporting a group of 4-H kids for a morning.
I provide the stands, tables, chairs, shade, drinks and donuts. I have a simple Estes launch controller, but a heavy duty launcher is always welcome in the event we get a cluster engine rocket.
So, if you can spare a morning, like rockets and kids, let me know - I could use your help!
Thank you,
Kevin Taberski
Ken & Kevin,
I am a "maybe' for this. I have to help the 4H horse showmanship at the fairgrounds indoor arena that day - but I dont know the times yet. Perhaps I can get both of them done in the same day.
Let me check on times...
Ed
Ed,
Due to the weird scheduling this year (Shoot and Interview Judging both moved to Thursday), it's likely that some of the kids will opt to only launch once - we generally have each of the kids launch twice. So it's possible that we may be able to finish up a bit early this year. On the other hand, I may have some trouble getting the kids back if they're in the middle of judging.
Not the best situation, but we'll manage.
If you have any further questions, let me know.
Thank you,
Kevin Taberski

I'm still not having any success recruiting a judge for this year's Boulder County Rocket Shoot. I realize that it's now getting to be fairly short notice, but I'm getting a bit desperate. Any leads at all at this point are appreciated.
If anyone has any further questions, please - don't hesitate to contact me.
Thank you,

Hi Kevin,
Following up our phone conversation earlier today, you can definitely count me in.
I now have Larry and Ken signed up to Judge the Rocket Shoot for the Boulder County Fair on July 30th.
As it happens, we are still in need of a someone to Judge the Models that the kids built for the project itself. This is the main ascpect of the Model Rocketry project - the shoot is an optional part which requires a separate rocket.
This judging consists of interviewing each kid (approximately 15), judging the kid's display rocket and their accompanying record book.
This all occurs inside the Exhibit Building on the same day as the Rocket Shoot, from 9:00AM to 3PM.
If anyone is interested in this, please let me know and I will put you in contact with the 4-H Extension Office.
Thank you,
Kevin Taberski
