My name is Keith Dewey and I'm contacting you on behalf of the AIAA student organization at CSU. We are hoping to get involved in rocketry this coming year and wanted to reach out to you. We are still a small group (25 students or so at the moment) but are working hard on expanding the aerospace presence at CSU. Our goal would be to set up some sort of design competition for the students but we currently don't have a faculty member helping us out on this front and are hoping we might be able to get the assistance we need from your organization. If your organization, or any individual members, would be interested in helping us out I would love to sit down and figure out what possibilities there are for us. Feel free to email me at kmdewey@gmail.com or call me at 970-443-4984
Thanks for your time,
Keith Dewey
I'll contact them and see what they are thinking - I'm guessing CANSAT or something similar might good for them.

Might be a good competition to start with - probably too late this year to do the NASA Student Launch Initiative program.
I have some contacts in the CSU Atmospheric Department, maybe they could find an interesting payload to boost.

I met with Keith and two other guys on Tuesday afternoon to discuss things with them. They had NO sponsors at CSU at that time. They have my contact information. We discussed where to start since they have very little rocket experience. I thought they should start with something in the A thru C size motors with wood fins and we could probably launch them at Hughes, if there was not a NCR launch happening quickly. Then we could go to D and E's, then F and G's. They could work on concepts and get some experience. We could progress from there. By then, my schedule might free up more. If not, I figured we could call for help and one of you guys could help sponsor them at one of our launches. It would probably be better for me if one of you guys jumped in sooner than later, so that you could be in at the beginning, and because instead of diminishing my weekend activities, I may be working gun shows in Wyoming, Montana, and Nebraska, only taking time of for Christmas, New Year, and Thanksgiving. My 4th of July gun show is scheduled for Jackson Hole right now. (I know it is rough, but someone has to do it!) Let me know what is going to be done so I can bow out gracefully. Thanks

You'll have to get permission for Hughes. 10+ years ago I launched there but also had the authorities show up a couple times.
