I hunted the west side of Grand Mesa (near the old Wild Rose campground) from 1984 through 1993 and did VERY well back in the drainages above Whitewater. Took an 8 point bull there in 87 and had to spend 3 days dragging the damn thing out. Great area, great hunting, WAY too many hunters. Units 41 and 411 if I recall right. Also kinda casually took a mule deer buck who wandered through camp just after sunset while 15 other hunters were scrambling for their rifles - Had 8 guys help butcher that buck (actually, I don't think I lifted a knife). I was just lucky that my gun was 3' away and freshly cleaned and loaded.

Shame that Chronic Wasting Disease hit Colorado - otherwise I'd still be hunting. Damn nice Tim. Congratulations. I'll be happy to eat one of those brats when the time comes and with thanks.

PS: I still have 40 or 50 pounds of elk from the poor bull who walked in front of a German tourist in a van right behind my house on US36 heading to Estes Park. Still haven't gotten around to making sausage.

Nice job Tim and Keith!!! I didn't get a chance to hunt this year... next year, perhaps? I did take the .300 Winmag out and it still knows how to shoot 8)

How does an elk score? Plainly you've never seen a Far Side comic or Bizarro.
