HAPPY INDEPENDECE DAY! I just love the rockets red glare and the bombs bursting in air. I woke up this morning and the flag was still there. Think I will go watch The Patriot to remind me of the scarifices that have been made so that we can still do what we do.
Prior to touch off for the Loveland shoot on the lake, fellow pyro Walt read the Declaration of Independence out loud so we all had a better sense of the moment. 236 years of celebrating with bonfires and illuminations. Fire in the hole!
Fireworks were pretty scarce this go around, with just a few large shoots happening anywhere on the front range. Thrilled I got to be part of two of the major displays. Sky artistry requires lots of effort. Awesome to watch the magic happen. And I'm sure glad I wasn't in San Diego waiting for their display. All at once isn't very pretty but had to be loud!
We do not have a large display.
But it is a nice hometown one.
I was a mile or so away. (hate to pay) We have gone to the
same little park for many years.
Here is just a few pics.

Great pictures, Mike, but where is the sound? Fireworks need to have audio to make the entire event. On Wednesday I had sound but no great visual. I won a clay pidgeon competiton with my shotgun, but shoulder is a little sore; I must be getting old. I also did pretty good with pistols and long guns and I am off to help clear a cattle and horse pasture of prairie dogs this morning. Seems the fleas they carrie themselves carry the bubonic plague. They also attract snakes, coyotes, and other predators. then if the horse or cow steps in the burrow and breaks a leg, they have to be put down. Cute and funny as they are, those little rodents have a really negative side.
I did the Nucla Prarie Dog Shoot a couple times back in the 90's.... nothing like exploding plague infested rodents with a .222 or a .25-250 from 400 yards off a bench. Lots of good local homebrew beer too. WAY better than fireworks but not as good as a big sparky motor.
Prairie dogs were eliminated this morning, but only at 350 yds; AR in .223/5.65 NATO. Still a good time.
