😕 Pretty cool any way.
When my Dad was stationed in Germany at Bitburg, 1971-1974 we had stands of trees behind the base housing. We as kids use to go play in them. These stands were like the hedge rows, only they were about 1/4 mile long and maybe 100 yards wide. About 200 yards apart. We would progressivly get further away from the base housing as we went from stand to stand.
My Mom and Dad done warned us about picking up shiny brass or metal objects. 😯 A VERY REAL DANGER only 25 years later after the war.
One of the OLD German ladies at a party next door a couple years back, told a story.
When Patton sent a Clergy to Bitburg to inform the people there the war was over for them, a fanatic group put him up against a wall and shot him.
Pissed, Patton sent part of his army and proceded to level the town.
I guess he made the war over for them. 😉
I have never really tried to look it up to see if it was true. 🙄
I found this article, interesting.....
http://www.dvidshub.net/news/47438/world-war-ii-fighter-unearthed-65-years-later
"All spots in Bitburg are inspected for bombs and chemicals from World War II prior to construction because Bitburg was heavily bombed, especially on Dec. 24, 1944," said Rudolf Rinnen, a public relations specialist for Volksbank Bitburg"
I guess my parents may have been right!
At the Atlas site, you may come across somthing bigger 😯 😉 😉
