It is such a crapshoot.... no better example than today. Yesterday's forecast for today was utterly wretched. While it was a mess this morning, I can tell you that right here, right now, conditions are PERFECT. Dead calm, mostly clear, 52 degrees.
As little as two hours ago the forecast for today was overcast and highs nowhere near what it is right now.
I stopped prepping last night as I figured there'd be no way we could fly. Now I wish I had continued. I'll pick it up again tonight, and hope for the best on Saturday.......
I'm going to be prepping today and tomorrow, also. Not sure how far I'll get, but I have a plan now for connecting a Featherweight av-bay to a dual-deploy chute holder that I can use for all of my 38mm flights if I can make it durable enough.
I'm in Grand Junction right now and I can tell you that the weather headed your way is wretched. Not quite cold enough for snow to stick to the highway, but definitely heavy, wet and shitty. Hope you guys luck out. I'll be thinking of you, but looks like I won't make this weekends' launch.
For what it's worth, the updated forecast this morning calls for moderate Westerly winds of 7 mph until noon. Fingers crossed.
