Radar estimates show that the North site got well over an inch of rain yesterday. Nearby locations got over 4". That should help green things up for the September launch.
4 inches?
Holy crap - someone was doing an effective rain dance...
There are days we get 4" before noon :-O

I never owned a rain gauge before moving here. Now I have to make sure I dump it every morning. Ames isn't near as wet as Fort Dodge, etc. Of course these soils can handle it much better. That said, it rains every single solitary day. I sit on the porch every night and watch the storms blast thru, which is cool....
I know someone who was out at the Atlas launch site area on Monday and they said it was pretty green and the cacti still had their flowers. I would assume it is very similar at the North site.

You going to do your L3 at Oktoberfest, Justin? You need an extra shoulder to help you carry your bird out, I'll be there. You're like Troy Hummel, just a matter of making another flight and getting certified, which you both have done so well. Just paperwork for you guys. If anyone needs air-start advice or help, ask Justin. 😉
Yes I am doin my cert at Octoberfest but im in no way at all like Troy. If I need any help at all i will be sure to look you up. Thanks.
Justin
Troy has never personally flown a level three motor? Justin may fall into that category, but Troy?

I'm sitting here in Grinnell Iowa and damned if it isn't raining to beat the band... seriously soaked out here folks... hope the north site got it half as bad and we'll be flying sparky's left and right without any fear of fire.
How far is Ames from here?
Warren
Microsoft Streets and Trips says it is 76.9 miles and 1 hour and 9 minutes to Ames. The problem is that I am having trouble figuring out how to map the directions using a rowboat.
Warren, good thing you like river rafting! Give our best to JW.
Warren, how long will you be in the 'hood? I'm visiting my Dad, will be back in Ames on Sunday PM... Now you know why I was whining about the rain. YIPES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Let me know if you will be passing through?
I'm dropping my daughter off at Grinnell and will be headed back to CO by late afternoon today. It's not such a bad drive to CO - about 8 or 9 hours at most to the North Site from Grinnell. Won't be able to stop by, at least on this visit - I'm with the ex-wife in her car. However, I will certainly be back out here a couple times over the school year.
