It will be if we don't get enough volunteers to help put on the show.
Right now we are in desperate need of LCOs, RSOs, Registration help, and Pad Managers.
So far we only have LCO coverage for Friday and Saturday morning.
Click on the "Volunteer Schedule" link for a "pop-up" of the schedule and a description of the volunteer opportunities and PLEASE let me know if you can help in any way.
Thanks,
Ed

Let's be clear - if we don't have volunteer LCO's, RSO's and Pad Managers scheduled for Friday and Saturday, MHM will be cancelled.
Sign up now! The only known slot filled right now is LCO for 8AM to 2PM on Friday and 8AM to noon on Saturday plus one RSO slot for Saturday. We need at least 3 or 4 L2's to handle RSO duties and 2 to 3 Pad Managers to cover each shift on Saturday.
This is YOUR club. If you don't make it happen, no one else is.

Did everyone on the email list get pinged on this emergency? Some might not be checking the website very often, especially during the last week prior to launch when we're all trying to get things wrapped up and ready.
BTW, I just signed up.
Ken
Ill be out Saturday with nothing to do, I know I cant be a LCO or RSO but tell me what I can do and I would be happy to do it.
I wont be able to show up til friday night or first thing saturday morning, but would love to help in any way I can. Im quite out of touch with things, feel like a noob again, but will help in anyway I can.
The email list is currently only available to Joe - the president. He's the only one who can send it out until we make a major update to the website. Also, many members have not provided the club with email addresses so that method doesn't add much to publishing notice on the website, at least for now.
Basically stated, for an event like Mile Hi Mayhem, we need 5 LCO and 5 RSO slots filled each day for all three days. In addition, for Saturday, when things are busy, we need 2 pad managers on duty at all times - 10 2 hour slots helping the LCO keep the pads filled and helping folks get their birds loaded on the pads. If you can take one slot, great! If you can take more than one slot or several slots scattered around, even better.
Currently the 8AM to noon LCO slots are filled both Friday and Saturday and one RSO slot is filled on Saturday. What we need is a couple more folks to step forward to handle LCO slots on both afternoons and L2's and L3's to step up and RSO for a 2 hour slot on both Friday and Saturday.
Sunday is a different animal given that it is a Tripoli Research launch - flyers must be Tripoli members and L2 or above. That also holds for launch and safety officers so we need a couple Tripoli L2's or above to step up for LCO and RSO duties on Sunday as well.
In any event, this is your club and we don't launch without you and your help. While I hate to belabor the obvious, if we don't get volunteers to help out, we all might as well quit and join another club... of course they'll have the same problem and will need volunteers to step up too. You can't just pay your membership dues and expect that all you have to do is fly rockets. There is more than that to joining any rocketry club and it requires every member to do their part.
One final thing - don't ask us which slot to fill, look at the volunteer schedule and pick an empty slot and then email Ed at volunteer@ncrocketry.org and tell him which one.

PS: Pardon the tone, not meaning to guilt trip anyone, but just stating the situation.
Ken, I have not yet sent an email to the mailing list, but I will tonight.
Kyle, How about a Pad Manager slot Saturday?
djsroc, would you be interested in a Pad Manager slot or helping at the registration table?
Thanks all!!!
Yes, im interested in whatever is needed, just let me know friday night where you need me.
I offered to RSO Saturday afternoon... I'll try to find the link. With my hands that's all I can do... plus, at 5'7", I'm not tall enough to manage the Estes pads, can't reach them without taking a chance of bending the rods. Boy, is that depressing... 😯 Otherwise, since I only have one flight... I was going to ask Joe if he wanted me to hand raffle prizes out. I'll be there Friday (~10 AM - 12 N), stay overnight, then leave Saturday afternoon about 5-6 PM. There are also new members who maybe don't know that they are EXPECTED to volunteer! The rule, as I understand it, is that if you don't volunteer, you don't fly. Is that still true? If not, it should be. All it means is that by volunteering for two hours, OTHERS will get to fly instead of serving everyone. Joe Hinton, Warren Mussleman, etc. end up doing most of the work and shifts, and that's just not right. L1's can LCO, L2's & L'3 can RSO. ANYONE, tall enough, can manage a pad. I promise you it's fun. In most clubs, you have to work your way up to get to do this kinda stuff, but this club let's--and expects--you to step up.
I can be a pad manager, what time is neeeded
Where do I look to find the empty slot? I only get a description of the jobs when I click on "Volunteer Schedule."
I'll do an LCO shift on Saturday afternoon, by the way.
8) OH BRUCE, GET A STEP STOOL! 😀
There is a popup of all the volunteer slots that you get when you open that page and a link on the page to pop it up separately.

Right now we are in desperate need of LCOs, RSOs, Registration help, and Pad Managers.
I'll be staying at the Comfort Inn Friday Night, and will try to get there by nine friday morning. Anything that I can do (I don't know what qualifications are required) I will gladly pitch in, as long as it doesn't involve lifting. If you need me there on Sunday, I'll extend my room reservation.
I just ask that I be allowed to launch my two-stage (3" K700 x 2) as soon as I can while the winds are calm, otherwise I'm wide open.
I'm willing to help, but would prefer sunday. unfortunately I'm a former TRA L3. I don't know if you are looking for experience, or if I must have an active L2+ in order to assist. perhaps I can do something at the pads or elsewhere.
looks like I'm going to postpone my NAR L2 cert on sat afternoon. if so, I can help Sat. I'll make a decision on that tomorrow.
