Every couple years We get an engine that goes so wrong, it is worth
a picture or two.
Cummins ISX.
One big expensive issue.
Two pictures
I believe that is refered to as a "window" by those in the trade.
Ouch!
Ive done that twice in my vehicles and once in my racing kart. Quite funny til you have to walk 😆

OR PAY FOR IT!!
Might that have been due to synthetic oil instead of the real stuff? I'm glad I wasn't driving next to it when she went kablooie.

Ah the cars were old beaters, so no big loss, but the kart engine hurt my feelers along with the wallet, hehe
Probably 'overspeed'... Topping a hill at eighty and not letting up.
Some years ago a big problem with S60 Detroits.
About a $35,000.00 repair. Yes. Thirty Five Thousand.
Here's a picture of an engine that through a rod on one of my race bikes in 2000. It comes from the following web page that was about my season:
http://www.650motorcycles.com/MikeKonshak.html
You can see the aluminum rod (less the small end) sticking out at the bottom of the slot. It went through the steel sleeve. The rest of it is still with the piston. Valves were bent as well. This happened on the south banking of Daytona Speedway, going about 135mph. It made quite a clatter! I was able to get the clutch pulled in (before the wheel could lock up) and dropped down as Yvon du Hamel went screaming by top side.
Rockets are safer 😉
Rockets are safer Wink
😯
No doubt.
And I must say that website is much cooler than your slide rule one.
I traveled over 20,000 miles, raced a total of 72 main events and brought home just as many trophies.
Mike, when you go, you go big, that's for sure.
No question about it, when Mike gets into something, he goes big in a big way... Robot Wars, Rockets, apparently racing motorcycles... I'd like to see Mike get some really big rocketry ambitions like an S or a T motor sub-orbital.

Uhhh, OK... now accepting donations for a T motor. I'll be lucky if I'm allowed to fly K's next year. 😆 Becky still wants to autox next year, So just like this year I have to split weekends between Corvette activities and rockets. This was my concentration in 2007 prior to getting involved with rocketry and we both won the 2007 Rocky Mountain regional championship in the Ladies and Men's division. It's rare to find something that the wife does equally as well as you do. The secret of life is to "keep the girls happy". 😉
My goal in 2008 was to get my L3 and compete in NARAM-50. Now I'm kind of floundering about what to set my sites on. It all depends if I survive the layoffs.

You know if none of us has a job, we could just sit around the kitchen table, drinking beer and shooting match rockets. They are cheap! 😉
Entertains the kids too.

Dont you know you can put out an eye with those! 😀
Isn't this economy fun? As of Thanksgiving, I'll be on sabbatical, unemployed, on the loser train, for two years... do you want fries with that, or, Hey, welcome to Walmart! This, too, shall pass, just hang in there to fly again. 8) Mike, if YOU get laid off, then the end is near, my friend. 😉

I was laid off twice in 2006 from Sun, when the economy was supposed to be good! 😯
Bruce, I'm seeing new/old faces showing up at Sun but as contractors. I can find out who the headhunters are. Downside with them, you have to supply your own insurance.
