Well, we still don't know how the fire-bans might effect the launch, but in case the launch is a go we will need to do a round of equipment cleaning and battery charging.
We can't put if off any longer.
Sunday - October 3rd, 9:00am to noon at my place south of Longmont.
Let me know if you can make it as I want to put together a signup sheet so that I can contact you if there are any changes.
Thanks!
Ed Dawson
Hi Ed,
Sign me up. I have a dozen or so new whips, but they'll need clips.
I'll be there.
Ken.
Ed, Thanks for hosting ❗
Count me in 😀
I suggest that we replace as many clips as possible instead of cleaning them. Does the club have any alligator clips or a good source to buy them in bulk? Will one size fit all the whip leads?
I can get them if need be, just want to get the right ones. 10 amp?
If anyone else has a soldering iron please bring it. 🙂
I'll call DeBelle, let him know about cleanup, We will be there. Bring any cleaning rags, green pads, simple green etc, you might wish to contribute for the cause. Do we need to bring anything else? 😯 . Joe is on the phone. Survey being conducted.
Glad to hear Chili Blast was successful. 😀 Too bad I couldn't make it. 😡 See you all Sunday!! 😀 Ken S.
I will REALLY try to be there.
I'll be there of course.
Just for general info, I have recorded the driest month precip. total for the month of Sept. since I have been living here SW of Berthoud.
32 yrs.
0.07" of precip.! normal is 1.24"! So it is dry out there! State wide averages are way down also.
Some areas not as dry as here, but Northeastern Colorado is way down on precip.
Food for Thought...... See you all at cleanup
Clean up and maintainence is a great idea and I'll be there. Thanks for hosting.
I will miss you guys as Evonna and I are going to the Utah desert for a week... Joe, if you gather everyone's name and pull one from the hat I'll donate a $20 gift certificate to 3 Dogs.... that would make for a nice shock cord (or down payment on something more substantial if you wish). Sorry I can't make it -
JW
Ed,
I think I can make it. Can you send me directions?
I have about 20 pairs of clips, plus other electrical supplies and tools. I've mentioned to Joe about my idea of putting a connector on the end of the launch cables that allows rapid changeout of a finer gauge wire and clips. Anderson powerpoles work really well in this regard. This way we can keep a stock of clip leads and not keep cutting the 120v heavy wire shorter and shorter. The heavy wire also causes problems with the smaller motors as the wire is stiff and heavy, often pulling out the ignitors or bending them.
thoughts?

Bad news about Oktoberfest. But wise and common sense prevails the itch to launch birds.
It has been so dry and with grass growth in early Spring and drying out,
excellent idea to cancel Oktoberfest. Besides, we have other fine places to launch around the state. Just have to travel a little.
Cleanup this weekend will get us ready for next time...........whenever...
Is cleanup day still on? If so i'll be there.

Yes, the cleaning day is still on. We just don't have that impending deadline (bummer, eh).
Swing by if you can.
Ed
Sorry I couldn't make it, guys. I'm even more disabled than I will admit. 😯
