Are the only research days now tacked onto MHM, OF and the July launch? Last year didn't we do a Saturday/Sunday setup?
Edward
Yes to both questions. If enough interest is there, additional Research days could conceivably be added. A lot will depend on the final draft of the "Standards for Operations Recreation Event Pawnee National Grassland".
Tripoli Colorado should be setting their calendar schedule at the Sunday meeting.
Also remember that we "lost" two of the few who were research guys last year, Conway and that "Sponge Bob" guy. 🙄 Giving us great pictures from the air and beautiful blue motors. Alas and alack..., JW. Not in that order. Since when, Edward, are hybrids research motors... then again, I've been out of touch these past 2-3 years?
Hybrids are just like solids, if they motor is certified by NAR, CAR or TRA then they are certified for use at a TRA or NAR launch. I just have motors (both solids and hybrids) that are of my own creation and thus they are not certified. I just didn't see our regular Saturday/Sunday schedule like we had last year and wondered. Would be good to know when I could fly them so I can plan when to. I also plan on visiting TC more this year - I believe last year they were all TRA research with 1 day of each of their two day events (Spring Fling and Fall Frenzy) being commercial.

Gothca, Edward. Good inquiry. Also, remember that extra club members, particularly Joe, will have to be there for those launches.
I understand that - I wasn't at the meeting so didn't know if NCR was now pursuing a non-research avenue.
Edward
Edward, from my own personal experience, NCR tries to do what everyone wants. I doubt if our executive branch is counting anyone out.
Research Days area significant item for NCR. The main reason for fewer of them this year is that we have a reduced summer launch schedule due to accommodating NARAM and some other clubs' launch schedules - something I was vehemently against (aside from TC). We have too many clubs in this state to worry about stepping on their schedule and enough members to justify the heavy schedule we've had the last couple years - in my opinion.

Both Jeremiah and I have stuff to fly as well. It takes some planning ahead for us to be there though. I really wish there were some on Saturdays though, Sundays are tough. Both of us commonly work the AMs at Church.
I for one would like to add my voice to the interest for research launches. I joined the club just in the last few months for the primary purpose of putting up my own motors. I do understand that this can mean extra coordination, and in no means want to inconvenience anyone. I am building a test-stand now so I can start making some motors to fire.
If you don't want to build your own stand I have one and I know a few other do - that way you don't have to invest in any other equipment.

If we knew what we were doing, they wouldn't call it Research. Plan ahead - Add two more dates to the TRA Research launch date possibilities. Final draft of the Permit Application was adjusted to include Sunday, April 11th as a pre-MHM TRA Research and Sunday, September 12th as a pre-Ofest TRA Research date.
AWESOME JOE!!! Thank you for everything!
