I saw that the "scheduled" time to meet is 10am. Is anyone planning on getting there earlier? I'm shooting for 9 so I can look about for my fin can that should be close to the launch area. That is depending on the temperature early in the AM.
What is the general plan and structure of this outing? I'll be on my motorcycle, so I can't haul much stuff. 😛
The plan is to organize a line of members spaced about twenty-five feet apart and to walk together as a Search and Rescue operation in a sweep of the area, pivoting either around the center point at first and then from established GPS points on the line out to about a mile and a half; working/walking over a simple grid to cover the most likely areas of MIA parts and rockets. Then we'll spend a little bit of time stooping and collecting the non-indeginous articles that others have left behind, like cans and mylar balloons and plastic scraps and shell casings and then we'll end the outting with a roar of approval that Spring has arrived and we'll do a little rain dance and go off on our merry way back to whereever it is we've come from knowing we've been responsible users of the Atlas site, we've celebrated the arrival of Spring and we've had a chance to get together as a group to do something positive for the environment, et cetera, et cetera. BTW, weather forecast is for clear, warm and sunny.

There, fixed it for ya.... 😛
Schwartz's closes at 2:00 on Saturdays and I missed it on the 7th. Can't go with ought my Krautburger fix any longer..... It's been almost a year since the last trip. 😯
Thanks for the info.
While I won't be able to make it Saturday, I thought I'd share a strange factoid... Last weekend a few of us NCR types picked up perhaps 50# (roughly one bushel) of spent ammo casings out there. No foolin'.
Too bad brass isn't worth much these days for the scrappers..... Unless it's .45 ACP.... Reloaders are paying the best prices about now, brass cases are scarce.
What a nice day. 14 of us searched a swath about a hundred yards wide and over 5 miles long. We found Geoff Givens' Dragonfly and a few miscellaneous parts, most notably Greg Mackey's fin can from his D altitude shot. If you have a lost rocket at the atlas site, you can be pretty sure it's not in this area.
That almost looks like we knew what we were doing 😛
Pretty cool.... Fun time, I give it two thumbs up.
Proof in pictures 😀
Somethings missing.... 😛
THANKS to everyone who picked up debris today - that is awesome. I always try to "leave it better than I found it" and you guys did that in SPADES. Thanks on behalf of those of us who couldn't come hang out with the cool kids!

As with JW, I apologize for not being there today. YOU GUYS RULE! I'm thinking about carrying a bag with me everytime I go out, just to pick up stuff, either left by us or others. This IS the way to to!
