Mark L. Keith and myself will start looking for elk Saturday. Let's hope we get some shots. We are out of Brats and meat sticks (can you say Jalapino and cheese?) Weather looks good, camp is up and ready. Now where did I put those shells? Tim Thomas
I wandered around 1st season in Unit 80/81. Tracked a monster Estes Park sized elk for 8 hours and 10 miles until it got dark. Never had a clear shot. Enjoyed the walk though 🙂
Happy trails!
8) Well, the Elk Gods, they did shine on us! Sunday morning around 8:30 a small band of elk came right to us, 3 down in around 10 min. Mark, that silver tounged devil himself, talked the cowboy pool rider into taking all 3 cows back to camp on his horses. 😆 $ 😆 Great hunt!
I was never so glad in my life to see a couple guys show up with horses. 🙂
Carrying a quartered elk on your shoulders is a bit of a chore.
