Hey everyone,
Feeling frustrated because you haven't been able to fly high power in a while? Come to "Thrustration!" The Tripoli-Colorado October launch will take place in two weekends from now (October 20 and 21). Since NCR's Oktoberfest launch was canceled for this year, I've decided to make the October launch a two-day event. Both days will be Tripoli Research launches, but don't worry, if you're a NAR member you can still fly with us! Our standard waiver will be in effect: 7,000' AGL all day with windows to 14,200' AGL. There's a couple of things to be aware of:
Motors: Neither Joe Hinton nor Jon Skuba will be able to attend. If you need motors, please get a hold of one of these fellows in plenty of time to get your motors.
Camping: No camping is allowed at the launch site, sorry. A few of us will be camping at Round Mountain campground, which is about 10 miles east of the launch site on Highway 24, just east of Wilkerson Pass. Alternately, you may camp at Chaparral store, which is about 4 miles from the launch site. For those not willing to brave the October weather in the Colorado high country, you should be able to get a motel in Fairplay, which is about 25 miles north of the launch site. There's also a KOA with cabins in Buena Vista. Speaking of weather...
Weather: October in the high country is always unpredictable. One thing is for sure, it will be cold overnight, so if you plan to camp, be prepared for below-freezing temperatures. I will monitor the weather closely every day leading up to the launch and keep you updated. Right now, the 20th and 21st are beyond the long-range forecast on wunderground.com. I should have a better idea by this Friday or Saturday.
see you there!

Thrustration!! I like it 😀
A maiden Voyage to the Hartsel launchsite is planned for Saturday morning. I will need the window for "FKNA" on a K500. Should go about 12K.
Thanks Dave!
I'm planning on Saturday as well, but need to head back by mid-day on Sunday.
See you there.
CAN NOT WAIT ! Count me in. Mark J.
The launch is on, but will be Sunday ONLY. Apologies to those who were only able to make it out on Saturday.
