Per subject, I was wanting to take my family to the Atlas site for fathers day to launch some little stuff. Somebody in the club said this was ok, but I figured it would be good to confirm ... and I also wanted to be sure we'll be able to get to it - is there a lock on the gate, or anything else that would prevent us from having access?
Thanks,
Greg R.
As long as you are flying Estes type stuff, no worries. If you want to fly HPR stuff, you'll need to contact Joe Hinton and ask about activating the waiver.
Warren
yeah, nothing bigger than estes "E"s. what about access - no padlocked gates or anything?
It's public land and patrolled/administered by the USFS. There is a rancher's gate across the access road. If it's open, leave it open. If it's closed, close it behind you. Be safe and be aware that rattlesnakes are out and about at that site. Also, stay away/off the power lines. If a rocket gets snagged, LEAVE IT on the wires. There's alot of juice running thru those lines.
thanks, joe!
Greg, you could also fly LPR at the field west of Sandstone ranch ballfields in Longmont if you don't want to drive all the way up to Atlas. Just make sure you get a copy of the liability waiver from me or Ken for every adult there, and send them to Sun Corp (the landowners).
If you do launch on Father's Day, post when/where and maybe some other folks will show up too (I was considering a small launch myself..).

thanks mark, think our plans for a launch today have been scrubbed - it's been a busy week for the kids and wife; we're going to stay home and have a quiet day relaxing. however, we might want to do something next weekend - how do i get the waiver from you?
Greg, send me an email: boarhog@infionline.net
I'll send you a copy. Be sure to have every adult sign it. Ken (new2hpr) has the address of the Sun Corp to mail them to.
