I may be able to fun to Hartsel on the 13th.
What is the best directions?
Thanks Mike.
Mike, I can drive there but I can't tell you how to get there 😯 I have spent a zillion hours flyfishing on the river a mile away and I have flown there a dozen or so times. Methinks I'll head thattaway in a couple of weeks?
Mayhaps you can follow me down there? I live in Windsor. We can catch up along the way and caravan down there... I will drive down early Saturday and maybe hang out Sunday. Hartsel is a GREAT venue!
Thinking this through a bit, since there is no NCR June launch, us northern guys should go down there en masse? Just a thought...
Hi Mike,
Ckeck the Tripoli Colorado website, I believe they have a map there. From where you are, take I-25 south to I-70 west, I-70 West to C-470 south, C470 South to 285 south (or west?). Stay on 285 all the way to Fairplay, then catch 9 just past fairplay to 24. Take a left, and 24 takes you right into Hartsel. Just past the store, take a right and then an immediate left. This puts you on the road to the launch site.
Seriously considering heading down myself.
I reserved camp sites at 11 mile Res. starting Friday Night. Probably 5 minutes from the site. Plenty still left from what I could tell
Thought we could shoot a couple of rockets and do some fishing ! 🙂
I always go up 285 to highway 9 just outside of Fairplay. You then take a left and go about 9 miles or so were it ends at HW24. You will go left a little over a mile to Hartsel. Your first right will be were you pick up HW9 again but you will make a right and then a quick left and fallow that road about a mile and it then will turn to a dirt road. once you have gone over the cattle guard you drive a couple of miles with a slight hill along the road on your left. Once it flattens out you will see some mounds of rock an dirt that is part of a quarry that is on the south end of the land that we use. you will find a gate at the east end of the quarry, go through the gate and be sure to close it and then fallow the road in and around the back side of the mounds and it will lead you to the area were we fly. If you are there early and do not see any cars out there then you can drive about 4 miles farther on the dirt road and you will make it to the general store were a lot of us stop for a coffee and potty break. You will be able to fallow others in from there. Some also stop ant the diner in Hartsel for breakfast, another good place to meet up with someone to fallow in.
