I wanted to know if it would be at all possible to get both L1 and L2 certs in the same day at this up coming launch? If I want to get L2 I understand I have to test for it, where do I get the test at? I am both a NAR and Tripoli member and figured I would just do NAR cert. Thanks for the help.
Come to the dark side Luke...... Oh sorry.... something came over me.
Art, Joe, Tim and James are TRA if I remember correctly, there are probably more. You will need to contact one of them to make sure they will be there and have tests with them. Tim & Joe signed off on my L2. I can't comment on the L1/2 same day thing, don't know the answer to it.
8) You can do both in the same day. Call Joe for the test, and motors you will need. I would be glad to sign off on your flights! Tim
You can do both on the same day with TRA. I did. After a successful L1 flight you will need to take the test and as long as you pass you will need to make a successful L2 flight.
For NAR L1 Certs, you'll need fellow NAR members, L2 or better, to witness and sign off on the important High Power Certification Application. Then you'll need to pass the written NAR L2 test which can be administrered on site. Then you'll need witnesses again for your L2 flight, to sign off on a different High Power Certification Application. Those forms are available for download from the NAR site www.NAR.org buried in the links to High Power Info. I typically have some copies of the forms and test with me in the field office box.
For TRA L1, you'll need to bring your Tripoli Handbook. Prefects, TAPS, and Board of Director members are the only ones that can sign off your certification. Then you'll need to pass the written TRA L2 test which can be administered on site. Then you'll need one of the same aformentioned characters to sign off on your L2 flight.
Thanks for the Head's Up on your desire to Certify.
Per recent posting from Ken Good, it looks like the 3 part Tripoli form from the notebook is going to be a thing of the past and the TRA cert forms will also be downloadable from the web "real soon now".

Thanks guys for the info and David for the practice test.
There's also an online practice test for the NAR L2 test. I'm only a NAR member at the moment, but personally I'd prefer the TRA L2 test. From what I understand, you can take it multiple times the same day, though you need a higher percent correct to pass (probably a good thing anyways).
