The PDF NCR_NPawneePropertyOwners.pdf is a map of the North pawnee Site within the Pawnee National Forest and Weld County and includes the private property owners within a 5 mile radius. The information came from the Weld county web site: http://www.co.weld.co.us which has a map to find owners. Using Adobe Reader you should be able to zoom in for more clarity.

I built the map up from several screens and added concentric circles out to a 5 mile radius and located all private property owners within that area, which are in yellow outlined boxes. The actual center of the launch site might be off a bit, but the location of the owners are accurate. Outside those boxes are US federal lands with full access (following specified USFS requirements). This will tell you whether the owner is local or if the fence you are about to cross involves trespassing.
Here's a small portion of the map key:
Using the letters A-Z you can identify the owners from the list on pages 2-3. I would suggest printing this out and keeping it in your range box, if your rocket goes astray outside the immediate area.
My suggestion is for the club officers to send a letter to all the owners, let them know that they are covered under NAR Insurance for any property damage that may occur by a rocket launched from this site. Although TRA has a 1 mile radius insurance limitation, NAR does not. (I talked to the underwriter). Consequently, my suggestion is to make all flights from NCR site as a NAR sanctioned event. That will go a long way in getting open access to property on a per day basis.
As a landowner in South Park, I too am annoyed at folks who come on the property without asking, but will normally allow foot traffic to anyone who asks.
Well seeing that map, I know I've trespassed at least once chasing someone else's K250 shot.
NCR's site is mismarked on this map though. The pads are located just south of the 1 mile ring by a couple hundred yards.

I think you are right. It should be 1-1/2 squares) up from CR122 (horizintal green line). That was my best guess. Can't change it now. 😳
Mike, that is an AWESOME tool! The moral of the story is to drift north (but not too far?)
James - the name of the rancher you shared with me? Does this jive with where your rocket landed? I was not there to see your boost, but from what I remember hearing, it drifted in a direction that would have taken it away from his land. It may well have landed on his grazing lease - but not his land. You may not have been tresspassing?
Thanks for this, Mike - it is very valuable!
JW
No worries - very much appreciate the effort you put into just finding out what was public and what was private. Thank you Mike...

It's a great map, but the launch site is a fuz north of the 1/2 mile ring. Comparing to my topo, the launch site is almost due west of where GR640 runs east/west (between 2 1/2 and 3 on Mike's map) The black line one section/square north of Mike's green line is CR122. Everything else is right on the money.
Mike, this map helps tremendously.
Ken.
It'd be nice to have on hand when birds fly away. This is great. 😉

At the very top of the lower picture is an east-west road leading to a windmill on the right side. Our launch site starts just on the north side of that road and the launch table generally sits 100 to 125 yards north of the road and about 50 yards east of road 45.

Thanks, that helped. As you can see I've made the corrections to the graphics and added a couple more property owners that fell into the new radius.
One thing I would like to add to this is the LEGAL access roads to drive on for chassing rockets. Does anyone want to help mark up the above map?
I think it would also be nice to have people GPS waypoint the landing points of their rockets. This coupled with weight, diameter and motor information could give us a good trend on where rockets are landing. I know at TC we did this and the pattern was interesting. This would also give people looking through the flight logs to see about how their rocket will perform and compare this with their simulations in Rocsim.
Edward
I like that idea Ed... I'm going to talk to Jeremiah about adding Lat/Long fields to the launch log flight records. Like altitude, they'll only work if people report them on the flight card, but the idea has merit.
Warren
I'm all over that. I carry a GPS when I go out so I can find my way back to the launch site :-O and I would gladly log that info on the flight card as well.
JW
Yes, I'd be happy to do that too, if there were a place to put that information. It took me a minute to realize that I don't need to fly a GPS for this to work, just carry one when I go to pick up the rocket.
For your continued map playing fun, here is yet another source for areal maps. We use Terraserver for our work and found the pictures to be much clearer than the others. I think this link will work. The big diagonal line from upper left to lower right is the new LPG line diggings...
