I am able to launch LP at some Wyoming State Access land between
Carpenter Wyoming and Cheyenne Wyoming. Almost exactly streight
north of our 'North Site'.
I will be going to the FAA here in Cheyenne Wednesday or Thursday
to gather information about HP launches. I will keep all informed.
It is not listed as being National Grassland or Forest Land.
According to a flight path map, there is a flight path very close. I would bet I would need to keep looking. But one never knows.
I have been flying there 2 years. Have had stuff printed and have
planned to go to the FAA but have not got around to it.
I will let You know.
It looks very close to the 'North Site' Remember it is only about
25 or so miles north. Wind mill and all. Much smaller. pretty
much where County Rd 138 and 203 meet.. Just 1 mile north
of the corner.
Mybe someday this can be a 'Plan C or D' type thing.
If NCR needs another HP launch site, much better that it be further south rather than further north. The North Site is onerous for many club members to get to as it is. Unfortunately, a site where there are no houses or paved roads in a couple mile radius around it is damn near impossible to find. If we did find another site, I doubt very highly that we would be able to get near the waiver we have at the North Site. Avoiding flight lanes is even tougher.
Up near Chugwater, Jim Amos has a site they're trying to waiver to a very significant altitude for testing commercial rockets flying on motors made by the company he's involved in, Frontier Aerospace. That might be a reasonable alternative, though another hour or so northwest of the North Site.

No need to panic - I tend to be at the front of the panic curve so wait for me to go ballistic. I haven't flown even once this year so I guarantee you I'll fly off the handle first.
