This is a picture of My ' 220 SWIFT FOO FIGHTER'
It is not finished as You can see.
If the fins survive the landing. Aug. 1st Then....
At Oktoberferfest it will be painted in the Swift color scheme.
The filets need finished, and it will have electronic air start of
two J motors. With a K500 for lift-off. The EB needs finished.
The 1st I am going with a K660. Motor ejection. Should get
around 3000'
it should be a "BLAST"
Will not fly Aug. 1
Mike, are you SURE you want to go w/ motor ejection? Seems a bit dicey to me?
BTW, the K660 we discussed is loaded up and ready to go, but right now the ejection well is DRY - the BP was drained. Do NOT forget to add the appropriate amount of BP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I always share all my successsss and failure.
Swift 220 Foo Fighter will not fly Aug.1 it will
be Oktoberfest.
Oh man. 😳 I used 2.1" phelonic as
my center motor mount. Real 😯 .
A 54mm case will not fit. 😳
I can not believe I did that.
I do not like the idea of three 38mm off the pad. Not
with this rocket.
Oh well. 😛
I will have to remove the fins and throw away
the air frame. The air frame and motor mount
is only a few dollars but some work. The airframe
was quickcrete form. Thru the wall fins so there is
no way to enlarge the center tube.
The top part of the airframe will become a kitten toy.
I will launch the Pawnee Arrow on the K660. As I did
last year. Duel deploy. I will weigh the BP in my K445
or K500 tonight
I will measure the BP very very carfully.
I thought about just saying It just would not be ready. But
how will anybody learn.
Rats. Ouch. Doh! Ouch. Measure twice, cut once indeed...
If you do NOT want the K660, no worries - just let me know. It'll sell (or worst case I get to fly it). Don't feel compelled to use it on my account!
JW
Oh No. I want it.
The rocket I am flying it in loves the K660
I will probably Just swap the forward end with one
of mine, and worry about charge size another day.
Please..Thank You
Mike, Before you tear the rocket apart, try using a 3 stone engine hone ran thru the motor mount. I just wrap each stone with a peice of 80grit sand paper. Ive used this many times for undersize 38mm tubing. You may have to add an extension to the hone depending on engine case length.
I just hate to see you tear the whole thing apart if it can be fixed
I thought of a hone. The outside is 53.3 OD. And the fins are
glued to it. The process of honing would completely remove the
phelonic tube leaving the inner fins exposed. One could then
slide some 54mm mmt...but. No way to re-glue the fins. Also
no way to trim the fin material back. The fins are around 17"
glued along the mount.
Thanks. Simple is better for Me..... Start over
Mike,
So even a fast burn 38mm won't make it work? Darn. Well it looks cool.
Missed you last launch. My daughter and I launched a 1x Swift and a 3x Swift. The 1x is still out there on the prairie, and the 3x has minor damaged repaired and ready to fly again.
The 14X swift will weigh about 16lbs loaded. I would not trust it with
a 38mm. Or a cluster off the pad. Need it to go quick and hard.
I just got back off weekends.
I will be launching My 7X swift. Probably on a J350.
The last day of MHM I launched it on a J350. Drifted a long
way and got tangled up in a roll of barb wire. Some cosmetic
damage. But...it flew wonderful on the J350.
Hope to see ya there.
