Hi everyone,
On Saturday, I earned my level 2 certfication. Wanted to take a chance to think everyone who helped. John W. for the Little dog kit, fin guide, and shockcord. Adrain, for the Raven altimeter, 7401' 554MPH on a J-285.
Art, for the use of his pliers. Chad, seems to always field lots of questions for me, thanks. Mike, for helping put the larger rail on the stand. Joe, for being witness and the offical signature of my exciting event. I'm sure the rest of my rocket brothers helped out in some way too, thank you all.
Glad my dad was able to be part of this event.
Congrats, David!
Nice! Steve J got his L2 as well. Anyone else?
David, did you use tracking, or just eyeball it? That is a LONG ways up there w/o a transmitter or GPS. Good job.
L3 next 😀
Congrats, David!
Congratulations!
Congratulations!
Hey,
Yeah, I had a DC30 stuffed inside the nose cone. Although when we first drove around by the wind mill I had no signal so I thought it was north of the road, after walking around on the north side of the road about 3 miles worth, and assuming somehow I had missed up the DC30. Not about to give up, I walked to the south side of the road, soon as I came over the little hill, beep, beep, beep, dog treed, 981yards away, very cool. Landed up agaist the first fence to the north of the pad. Bummer, I didnt realize i need a SD card in the traker for recording, next time MHM will be on a J420, and hopefully reach 10K.
Freaking Awesome
I did get my L2 TRA on Saturday also. I sent up multiple single deploy shots that required a fair amount of walking due north from the launch site. The 4000 ft + shots were over a mile out.
Rockets for the short shots, under 5,000 feet, seemed to fall in a small area along the N/S Fence line that runs along the road. I saw about 7 land within a 500 yard radius. Mike S. Black rocket (I forget the name of it) landed less than 10 feet from me as I was retrieving one. It was really cool to see one land close up. They're pretty darn quiet as they come in, so it pays to keep looking up in the landing areas 😉
Some how I was unaware of your effort. I would have paid closer attention.
I did have a dual deploy bird in the wings, but I'll send it skyward at the next launch. It has a DC-30 in it. I'd like to see your install, if you go to the next launch.
I too received a lot of help from Joe H, John W., and everyone. Especially the moral support after I para-wadded my earlier L2 efforts.
Steve J.
A hearty congratulations to both David and Steve... well done.
Congrats on the successful certs.
Warren
Woot, great job Steve!
You may stage and cluster up to 10,240 newton-seconds (two L's or single M equivalent)
Wow!!
Hi guys,
Here are some excellent pictures of my level 2 cert. flight.
Pictures were taken by Ray LaPanse. Thanks again, Ray
Which motor was that? Lots of mach diamonds! I saw a lot of them on my I216 boost - Ray caught that as well. It is great to have him out there!
Wow. That looks awesome.
Wow, great pictures, Ray!
