MACH DIAMONDS 😯
8) It should look familiar. The I216 is a J285 with a Smoki Sam nozzle. That Dr.J what a tricky fellow! 😆
You will never see a mach diamond. I like the black smoke, but there is this issue ;-0
These mach diamonds were really cool.
Hi everyone,
Little Blue Dawg, had its third flight last weekend, 7.11.10 THought i'd share my stats.
Motor= J420-1008 CTI 38mm 6grain xl
Rocket weight= 3.4lbs no motor
Axial Gs off the pad= 28.81
Max Gs= 72.74 Wow that .6 gram main charge is still maybe too strong.
Motor Ignition time (sec)= 0.125 seems fast to me.
Temperature (F) 98.13 Man thats one hot rocket.
Altitude= 10,868' New personal best. 2 mile club, woot.
Velocity (Accel-ft/sec)=1098
Velocity (accel-MPH)=749 Almost the speed of sound
Congrats on the two mile club. That was a gorgeous flight. 😀
As for the motor ignition time, you can safely ignore it. The Raven in my M1939 shot on Sunday said it had an ignition time of 0.645 seconds, which was definitely incorrect (I used thermite, and it was absolutely instant on). I think that is just looking at the length of the buffer prior to liftoff detection, which is not really correlated with the ignition time at all.
