Conway, Doug uses film. Far superior in resolution and quality than video. Check out what he does on his site: http://www.rocketryphotography.com/index.html
Doug, my L3 project is the first relatively large rocket I've built (building), 30-40 pounds, 5" x 12', like your Freeze Frame and Conway's L3 (going off at Oktoberfest) all fiberglass. I'm having the time of my life, and I pay particular attention to your contruction techniques shown on your site. Thanks again for the direct and indirect help. 🙂
Sorry. I do remember hearing you do actual film....not video... correct? Thats pretty cool stuff. I sure would like to check out your set up. I look forward to seing it fly. Anyhow getting the chance to have actual (i will use the term) Moving picture data on board is something that now attracts me a ton and I cant wait to see the images from the flight...
Photo posted of my Balls project. Was hoping to fly the beast today but weather at Hartsell looked marginal for a 12,000' flight. Stay tuned. If I get it back in Nevada, hoping to set the field altitude record during Octoberfest.

Hey guys, I thought we should start talking about Ocktoberfest again. High Tension will be flying again Saturday at Ocktoberfest. This time it will be flying on (2) AMW M-3000 Super Tigers, then airstarting (2) AMW K-1000 Skidmarks. The flight should go about 11,000ft high.
Very Nice flight with high tension.. What time do you plan to let it roar to the sky?.. I know I had set my time to do my L3 cert flight at about 10:30am.. Dang. I still have to come up with a rocket name... LOL.
As of now I am aiming for 10:00am. The earlier the better.
So as to make sure to not clash. What Rail will you guys be using. I will probably use the Extreme.
High Tension will be going off of Doug Gerrard's pad or if that doesn't work out then it will go off of the swing set.
Conway you have an un named rocket? OMG! That's unthinkable! How are you going to fill out your flight card?
I'm guessing Skyler, 'Thug's Secret Decoder Ring' and 'I'd rather be doing ballet' are out. Let us know if we can help further.

Looks like Freeze Frame is a go, probably... The rocket is finished and you can check out the paint job at http://www.rocketryphotography.com/rockets/RocketsFreezeframe.html if you like.
I still have a few issues to work out but if everythng falls into place I should fly it at Oktoberfest. I don't know when but I can narrow it down to either Friday or Saturday 😀 The remaining issues are small things like getting the camera controller built, programmed, and tested and getting my laptop to talk to my altimeters... nothing major 😉

Doug. I have yet to meet you in person and boy do I look forward to it, I still have the rocketry Magazine with you and your Mars Snoopper in it. I love that thing!! You do awesome work my freind a true master of what you enjoy. I hope someday to be able to reach that level of sucsess myself. Its an honor to fly at the same feild with you. The rocket looks really good. I like the booster seperation. Looks like it worked out well. Jims Pet2 timers have always been a favorite of mine. maybe someday I could talk you into throwing me a hand to do some film of one of my rockets.
😳

I made several changes because of that and even a second test. That video you see is too "violent" and it blows them off "tail" first. Its suppose to be "nose" first so I adjusted the balancing point and reduced the charges. It looks better on the second test (not posted).
I could talk you into throwing me a hand to do some film of one of my rockets.
That shouldn't be a problem but it does usually take planning and coordination but I always like a free ride. 😉

Well, thanks to an idiotic mistake (how could I have been so stupid), my Deuce project will be a tight squeeze to finish in time for Oktoberfest. It should still work out, but only if EVERYTHING else works as planned with no further setbacks (what are the odds of that 🙄 ).
BTW - anyone have a Rouse-tech CD-3?
OK, the deuce project is closing in on completion, and it's looking good.
I added some pics to the photo area of the website (here) of the build, including the most recent one of the dry fit.
Well I too look to be closing in on time and being ready. I will be shooting primer on the bdoy come tue the 26th. Then a breif sanding and clensing then followed up with some paint and clear layed down on Friday. Getting it all done by sunday and then prep work getting ready for saturday. im really looking forward to it. I just hope we have a stellar day of weather and no wind.
