Well I know its been a bit of time since Oktoberfest but I had to share that When my Daughter Danielle did her JrL1 then she became the first and only girl JrL1 in the state and I think thats an accomplishment. She not only did it but In style on a CTI I motor to quite well close to 1 mile. SO just a proud Dad blabbing his happiness... I was curious as to how many were in the nation so I have an email to NAR to see if they can tell us. I would bet one of the few girls her age in the nation even. She says she has plans to do a rocket she wants to drag race Art with. He has inspired her with his rocket called cheaper then a girl. So she wants to do a project called Better then a boyfriend. LOL looks like we may see a drag race later this year.. assuming Art is up to it..
Right on, Danielle! I think it is just terrific what she has done.
I'm surprised more women / girls don't gravitate to the sport? I have witnessed cert flights for TWO females over the years. Patty N. has flown a rocket or two! but it is a short list. Conway, I am glad Danielle had a great flight!

PS Conway, if she asks -- No, she still can't have my dog Sadie 😉
Yah, I really wish there were more females involved in rocketry. That is why I do X Prize (inside joke). Hey, the new Cheaper Then A Girl can take an M, will that be allowed?
Art
John great flight to say the least. It was picture perfect as flights go. Strait as could be no spin and perfect recovery. Ready to fly again...
I will tell her the bad news on not getting to kidnap Sadie..
Art, Inside joke is right... lol I would love to see more female participation in our hobby. Most you guys me included aren't that pretty to look at when at a launch all day..
Art M motors? Sure, she can build it and I will fly it. My motor BTW to. I cant imagine the stories if she whoops you...lol
The only diference between the Girl and the Boys is the price of her Toys!
And how big here Dads Wallet Is!
You want here to WIN dont you! $$$$$$$$$
I too would love to see more female participation in the hobby - hell, in engineering and technical fields in general.
While it's becoming fairly common to see women in IT, the hard engineering disciples like networking, hardware design, OS design and system level programming they are poorly represented... you tend see them as project managers, applications programmers and desktop support folks - softer disciplines. Those women you do see in the hard engineering fields tend overwhelmingly to be Indian or Chinese these days - at least where I work. 3/4 of our female engineering staff are from mainland China and India - most of the rest are from eastern Europe and Russia. Only one American born female engineer at our place.

Its not a matter of to want her to win(even though I do). She does just fine on her own and has plenty of good spirit. But again a trait that she has inherited from me I guess some might say. Things like heart, Desire, Passion , ability, and Ingenuity are all things that money cant buy and all the right things that make her good at what she will be able to do. It doesn't surprise me anymore that she can do whatever she puts herself to as she has in the past. Other things now like being a 2 time Presidents award for National scholastic achievement in overall as well as in Science and the fact she is now a sophomore in high school with a near 4.0 grade average and already taking pre-college and college based courses. Far ahead of where I was in school so may years ago. I am going to send an Email to the NAR office tonight as a curious question as to how many JrL1 girls represent the hobby. Would love to know how much company she keeps. Oh and one cant forget. The great thanks to Tim Thomas for being her sponsor with Rocket and motor for her JrL1 flight.. Thanks Tim!!

My son is a freshman at Colo School of Mines. Virtually all the degrees awarded @ CSM are engineering related.
To underscore what Warren said, the student population @ CSM is 81% male.
I pointed out this demographic challenge to my son... to which he said "I may have to offshore"....

Something to be proud of.
Umm
You know that it was just a joke right? In hind sight maybe it looked a little like an insult.
In my bussiness every day I incure major liability, and risk to my families finances and assets. When I come here I come here for fun. 😉
Im always looking for the lighter side of life. 🙂 I know I need it right now.
scotte
Oh yea Scotte, I took it as No offense. Im pretty hard to offend anyhow. But no worries. I was just posting and blabbing about my kid and how much cool stuff she does that makes it all worth the things we do as parents. I find it fun to share what My daughter has done having been a member of this family we call NCR long before it was even NCR. in fact Going on roughly 7 to 8 years now we have known many of the folks here. Back when it was PHITS and TRM. I was looking at some pictures earlier when Danielle was flying some of her earlier rockets like at the very first MHM... Thats been a long ways back. Now here she is slapping a challenge to Art even. Haha.. Art is known as the Boy wonder.. Maybe if she beats the Boy wonder, Danielle can become the Girl Wonder.. Ya never know. To me though she already is. Gee can ya tell Proud Dad!! LOL
Conway
Scotte, this club is my second family. True, we all love rockets but we're all good people and enjoy each others company... when you go down that hill at the north site or turn left at the Atlas site, it's always like a family reunion. Conway, again congrats to Danielle! Scotte, Conway's the guy who carred that rocket I showed you back on his shoulder. Family.

Good
I was more poking fun at a parents willingness to do what ever it takes for thier kids, over and beond what they would do for themselves.
And that reminds me, if I dont get L2 in Jan. or Feb. it wont happen in March. The Pine Wood Derbys coming at the end of Febuary. I, umm I mean my kids have a lot of work to do that month! 😉

Most impressive.
From the day we moved to Colorado, my dad being an Engineer and me being in High School, it was maid clear that the CSM and a degree from the School would be very Prestigious.
