I'll be flying a K first thing Saturday AM. Get it out of the way so I can work the registration table and LCO...
BTW - how do I post pictures here?
Well Bruce, Thats what I say we should do. Lets make it an Official N motor drag race at MHM. We can build you a N2400RR and fly it then. Plus im going to be building my blue formula in an N. so we can have a Blue vs red.. Now all we need is someone to do a White N and make it a red white and blue 3 way N motor drag race.
Art's L3 can fly on an N, and it's red. That would be so cool... a blue rocket with a blue flame (yours), a primarily white rocket with a red flame (mine), and Art's red L3 with a white.
Ken, after my I357, I can help you out, or help hand out raffle prizes, and I'll try for an RSO spot in the afternoon.
Ken, I'll create an account for you. Look for a Private Message here on the website with your username/password and then select photo-gallery from the main menu and login. You'll be able to post as many pics as you want.

Actually, contrary to popular belief, BAMF is not my L3 bird. BAMF was John Hall’s L3 bird years ago. Johnny flew his L3 flight in it with an old Kosdon M and then left rocketry after also being the prefect of TRM for years before it merged with PHITS to form NCR. I took over BAMF a year after he got out and I have now owned it for a good four or five years, during that time it has been significantly overhauled. BAMF is constructed of paper airframe but its unique inner airframe structure has allowed it to keep going all these years. Since John originally built BAMF it has seen 10 flights.
The rocket that I actually certified L3 with is a rocket that was modeled very close to BAMF (this was before I knew that I was going to own BAMF). The Dream Is Alive is my L3 rocket, it is a dark green bird. It is 7.5” in diameter, 11 feet tall and weighs roughly 90 pound loaded. The only appearance that The Dream Is Alive has ever made at Pawnee was on my Birthday back in 2005 when it flew the N2000W for my L3 flight. It has flown once since then at X Prize on an AMW N4000BB and I plan to repeat that this year at X Prize. Other then that, it stays in the dark corner of my bedroom to avoid UV light and it gets polished about once a month in order to keep the clear that Scott Harless so perfectly laid out looking good.

Come to think of it, that was the only time I've seen it. My mistake. I'm only going to bring my L3 out once, and that's for the N drag race with Conway. Then she'll get cleaned and waxed and stay in her honored corner. So that everytime I pass her, I'll remember her maiden flight, the L3 cert, and all the friends who helped me "get 'er done." Not to mention preserving that paint job, Art. Right now I'm in a funds shortage and in the process of re-doing my fleet. Not a good combination. At JW's good-bye launch, Warren said that he thought I'd be flying M's now. I was flying a J420. He was right. Man, once you've experience that power, it's hard to go back. 8)
I believe at Oktoberfest BAMF will see it's 11th flight ... alla Conway Blue formula in a Tag team of Art provides the rocket I provide the power. 😉
I wont be flying any of my own birds at OF but plenty of motors will be flown.
I remember the fun I had last year at Xprize and helping Art it was a good time.
Bummed still yet that I wont be able to make it to Xprize this year even though I was invited to go and fly Full Throttle. Just not in the cards of finaces and time. But there is next year I hope and its possible I will have a new project I can fly there..
I've posted a couple of photos in the Photo Album - "Carbon Diem" (more to come). Thanks to Art and Conway for the tips and advice on both clear coating and composite construction. Can't wait to fly! First flight will be a K185. Second will be something much bigger.
Ken, that is beautiful work! Uh, how much bigger than a K? 8)
It's only a 54mm MMT so I can only go so big. Thinking maybe a K550 or a K700 at least from AT. There may be a 54mm motor from another vendor that I haven't looked at yet.
I see some 54mm diameters on some kits saying they can fly up to L's. I honestly don't know either. I haven't checked. Tim would know. It really looks good. A K700 can take a GLR Vertical Assault to 10k. Bet yours might do that, too. Nice work, Ken. 😉
8) Cessaroni has a L330. One took Jasons big End. over 13K 8)
8) Loki has an L1400. 2850nt. in 2 seconds! Holy Crap, I want one!!!! Big 54/ 2800 case. There is that big Ellis L. AMW has 2, 54/2500case, a L1300BB and L1110RR, I am sure their are more.... 8)

Yep - that's the L1400 🙂
Awesome motor 😀
I've given some casual thought about putting that L1400 in a minimum diameter rocket. Can't be any worse than a J570 in a 28oz. 38mm rocket? I should simulate that... I think the challenge would be getting it up to optimal mass. I'd bet you'd have to add 3-5# of lead.
I'll have to think about that one 😯 Without an Acme fin can, that would be a pretty dicey trip.
I flew the Cesaroni L730 in my Endeavour at the August NCR launch. It went 11,274. I am planning to do it again at Octoberfest.
Ken, you can watch that motor in my rocket, then see if you want to try it. Very nice rocket by the way.
