Ok I got this crazy idea today while working about when you come across someones rocket out on the prairie.
To help someone locate a rocket, one would place a flag like the ones used on bikes near it when one is looking for there own. Its tempting to just pick it up and bring it back, but would hate to have someone miss you and be out looking for hours for nothing. Of course if it has obviously been there awhile, Ill pick it up.
Who knows, this could just be a pain in the butt for everyone but I thought I would throw this out for possible future use.
Last launch I was out looking for a rocket and Jon Skuba's landed about 10' from me over the fence to the north. Since the wind was blowing it around I picked it up and brought it back. It would depend on the situation. If it has electronics and is still beeping, I probably wouldn't disturb it incase I jarred the battery and lost the altitude. I would probably wind the chute up and let someone know.

That's a good plan. How about those wire flags (flourescant) used to mark underground cable and fence lines? You can get a bundle of 50 for about $10. They stick up aboout 2 feet. Folks can take a couple from the trailer when they go out scouting.
So far, everytime I found a rocket (typically John Scuba's) I called Joe H. on my cell phone and asked permission to brng it in. Verizon seems to work OK out there.
