Set up at the Atlas site is a little easier done as it is a smaller launch area to fill. Doesn't take that long to unload the trailer. That said, I'd be figuring we'll do one rack of four for low power, maybe both, and probably about four pads for High Power, maybe eight, depending on turnout and demand. Some assembly required. A few extra bodies makes the fun go quicker as long as the bodies know what they are doing. Instruction provided. We're not big clock watchers but if the waiver for High Power is about nine, then about eight-sixteen to eight-twenty seven is time enough to get started.
I'll try to roll in around 8:21 them. 8 was my high school number and 21 is obviously Forsberg, seems like a good place to start.
Not a bad launch today. It cracked 40 degrees for maybe an hour or two. Wind was never over 10 mph at the surface. Lots of midpower flights in the G-H range. Think we pushed about 70 into the sky, including 2 K motors. Had one large rocket core sample and one rocket separate on boost, but there wasn't too much blood and fiberglass on the prairie. A lot of people showed up and everyone was thankful for simply being able to fly again.
Sorry I missed it, I did manage to be 5th in line to get my KBCO Cd's this year though, then off to get a Christmas tree. Sounds like everyone had a good time, glad to hear it, it was a much needed launch!
I'll get the logs posted here shortly. Officially, 27 different flyers put up 64 flights, 42 Class One (A thru G) and 22 Class Two (H and above). Two successful L1 certs. Clear to partly cloudy, calm above and below.
FWIW, my wife was 25th in line of 600 some in Boulder, got her two copies. Go figure. I went in at 5:45 PM and could have gotten as many copies of Studio C Volume 22 as I wanted from the Boulder store.
Great launch yesterday guys. Man it was good to be out there flying again. It was a bit chilly, but the lack of wind was worth it. Really enjoyed getting out to see those who made it and see some motors burn. Can't wait until next year! 😀
What are you talking about, they weren't sold out?
Art, I think the Ft. Collins store had them for 2 or 3 days last year... it is a GREAT disc, by the way!
Sorry the thread got hijacked, but it was for a worthy cause!
Back on topic - great to see so many and meet a few new friends at the Atlas Site. We'll be back out there for New Year's Day, weather pending, starting a little later, quitting a little ealier but starting the year off right with another launch.
Wow - I didn't know we were launching on 1/1/11???
Meeting on 1/8/11...
