Did my PET2 timer bench test today at work.
H180W (RMS)
Timer set on 'Break Wire' test .
Went great. Our metel work bench (8' long) with vise and
about 100lbs of transmission parts went rolling. One of our
guys put his foot under the wheel to stop it. Everyone was
real surprised what thrust an H180 has. We had to open a
couple garage doors to vent the 'White Lighting' smoke out.
I know the timer would work. But needed to make sure I was
going to get a motor start.
It was worth the money for the re-load.
😆
You burned an H180 motor indoors?!!! My my... better that it was your garage than mine. Somewhere out on the web is a video of a guy doing a static test IN HIS GARAGE. Guess his test stand wasn't so sturdy and the motor breaks loose partway through the burn and goes whipping around his garage. Hearing his "Oh Sh*t!!!!" is funnier than hell...

The garage has 12 Semi Truck stalls. plus. In side, Yes. But a very
large area. We have a ventiation system as well.
The table on wheels, weighs a couple hundred pounds. There was
a steel, motor case holder in a very large vise.
We all have ear protection, and were 25 or so feet away.
I agree....H motors (or any motor) should not be done inside. Even a large shop.
Poor judgment on My part. 😳
If this was a level 1 or 2 question, I sure would have failed.
BUT.....man was it cool
One sure fire way to get folks interested that might not otherwise understand what fun rocketry can be all about. Next time, if there is going to be a next time, take video!!!!
