About ten years ago, when we were Tripoli Rocky Mountains (the club that eventually merged w/ PHITS to form NCR) we sent a very nice photo of one of our rockets in flight to both the USFS and FAA. They were framed and had a brass plaque that thanked them for their efforts and partnership.
This cost us about $30. It was a good thing then, and I think it'd be a good thing now. I'm guessing Ray LaPanse probably has about 4,000 suitable photos that could be used.
I'd personally like to see us do this. Yesterday would have been the perfect time and place to suggest it, but I didn't think about it until later. I'm so pleased with the USFS's willingness to come to our meeting and have some candid dialogue. That was outstanding.
Thoughts?
I'll second the motion on this. I had a very nice conversation with Jon Halvorsen (sp?) and it certainly seems that any difficulties we've had certainly aren't from his corner. We've enjoyed and enviable launch site with minimal regulation due to USFS personnel and I think it would be a wonderful gesture on the part of the club.
