Any and All
I joined the club early in October, and after being at Oktoberfest decided G moters weren't enough! I would like to try to certify for level 1 at the club launch Nov.3 weather permitting. I understand I would need witnesses and maybe this should be arranged ahead oh time. I have an Arcus I ran on 29mm Gs at Oktoberfest and noticed someone else was certifying with an H motor in an Arcus. I also built a Dart (38mm) I got from Joe at Hobby Town. I tried to call Joe at Hobby Town to see if he's going to be there with motors. They say hes gone for a while. ???
Perhaps maybe another vender?
I got my NCR card in the mail, and a few days ago signed up and paid online at the Nar web sight. Any guidance would be appreciated.

Scott, you will need to download the L1 certification form from the NAR website. As it generally takes a couple of weeks to get a NAR card in the mail, you should call them to see if they have assigned a number for you. You will need that in order to cert on Saturday. Tim Thomas from Giant Leap will be at the launch so you will be able to purchase a motor from him, and there will be several folks at the launch who will be able to witness your flight.

Xman (Ken), if he joined NAR and doesn't have his number yet, can't he still certify? Scott, do you have a receipt of some sort? And as Ken said, make sure you download the L1/L2 form. Joe Hinton is our president, and if you prove you joined NAR in some way--and we all may just take your word on that--Joe's call, since he'll send the paperwork in, you should be good to go. And, as Ken said, whatever you need can be provided by Tim Thomas. Our range boxes are open to you!
I do have an email reply from NAR from my aplication.
I will print it and bring it.
They said two weeks on the paper work in the mail, but
I will call to see if there is a number yet.
Scotte
I would think that the email reply from NAR would be enough, but it's really up to Joe I believe. Don't forget your L1 paperwork.
See ya Saturday.

...and if you were smart, you'd join Tripoli and cert with them. NAR is dying... at least as far as HPR is concerned. Their official comments on the proposed FAA rule changes for waivers shows that NAR has absolutely no organizational commitment to HPR or flights to altitudes above 5000' AGL.
Warren
OK
Sent that one off a minute ago.

I've been in NAR since 1968; however, what Warren says is true. While I don't think NAR is dying, TRA was founded on high power. Besides, on my last cert, TRA responded in the mail within 5 days, as opposed to weeks with NAR. Both clubs are good. But TRA is FOR high, higher, and highest power.
One thing to keep in mind is that the HP certs are transferable (sp) between NAR and TRA. I certed L1 and L2 with NAR and then moved my NAR L2 cert to Tripoli when I joined TRA.
