This is an offshoot of the Mini-Mayhem thread in the news/events section.
There are a fair number of us who live in the Boulder County area and like to fly LPR (and many of us have kidz). There seems to be some trouble locating a good place to launch where we can do so regularly, responsibly, and in good faith with the landowner. Longmont Parks dept. says no flying, no explosives, no fireworks, and thus, no rockets in their Parks.
Frankly, I can fly LPR at NCR meets, but (for me) this is about enabling the kidz. They just can't handle the drive to CRASH or Pawnee every month (especially when fickle weather means they might not get to launch anyway). A launch site in the Boulder/Longmont (etc) area would mean we could always go do something else in the event of cancellation.
So, anybody got an idea on a place to fly that's closer than CRASH or Pawnee where we can do it right?
There's a group on the net that flies from a sod farm. I'm thinking we could perhaps get a good reference from them to encourage a local sod farmer to give us a chance. Anybody know of one?
