Okay, got another request for Outreach. See message below. I have contacted the sender and am waiting to hear back about a specific date. Anyone interested in helping out? Let me know. Thanks.
"I am a 4th grade teacher at Platteville Elementary School and a coordinator for our MESA (Math Engineering and Science Achievement) club. We are excited to have over 60 students participating in our MESA program each year. Our goal is to get kids interested in science and math and promote that interest into their pursuing careers in those fields.
We were hoping that you would be willing to be a guest speaker at one of our meetings. Our club meets once a month, from 3:15 to 4:00 p.m. At this time the exact dates have not been determined, however we are in need of speakers for October through April.
Please consider this opportunity to get kids excited about science."
Joe - I'm relatively new at this but wouldn't mind helping out here (Plateville isn't too far from the Fort), especially if one or more of the other, more experienced guys came along - 60 fourth graders for 45 minutes?? That could be a challenge. A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, I used to teach high school science (biology, really - but these are 4th graders, right? No differential equations to solve -- I hope! 😯 )
Let me know
Most excellant Jack. No diffy Q's, just plain and simple rocket science. Mostly a Show and Tell adventure. Maybe even a small demo launch. I'm still waiting to hear back from the teacher about a specific date/opportunity. I'll keep you and anyone else interested informed as we get closer to the "performance".
