If there is an Oktoberfest. I can deliver the trailer and set-up
on the afternoon of the 4th.
I am assuming the trailer is at the regular place.
I work the weekend.
I will be at the launch on Friday and Monday only.
So I will be available for teardown also.
Hope it happens and hope to see all there.
Mike - if it's a go - I can help with set up on Thursday PM,, I'll be there Friday through part of Sunday, but, alas, must work on Monday.
Oktoberfest was just canceled because it is too dry?
Has anyone looked outside in the last two days?
I just pulled my sailboat out of Carter lake this weekend. Had to spend a few hours this morning bailing out the water and placing all the cushions in the dryer, because I failed put the top hatch on.
....
Just frustrated and Joe will always have the final word!
I understand Steven. It rained pretty good this afternoon in Fort Collins and Wellington. Rained all of last night in Wellington. Street flooding in Fort Collins this afternoon. Over the sidewalks at Drake and LeMay. I was dancing as hard as I could. Even got the bursitis in the heal acting up. I can see I did some good, but evidently, not good enough. 😥
The surest way to guarantee wind is to have a launch, the surest way to have rain is to cancel one. Can't have it both ways.
Edward
Joe was just relaying information.
It takes a government...
Oh well, I was looking forward to camping at the northern site.
Just kinda pouting at the moment.
I'm sure you can still camp out there, just no rockets.
Edward
Hmmm....
I may actually do just that!
I'm sure you can still camp out there, just no rockets.
Good point, Edward 🙂
Good call Joe! The news is disappointing but not suprising. I am sure this decision will put a feather in NCR's cap as far as the NFS and surounding ranchers are concerned. With the biggest fire season on record we would have been frowned upon by many even if we had no mishaps. We have a lot to lose and very little to gain by holding O-fest.
Too: From a finacial perspective as NCR's Treasury, because of all the launch cancelations from June thru September, interest in O-Fest seems to be down. New membership is not happening, O-Fest reistration is very sparse and there has not been a lot of talk on the forum either. It is hard to get exited about O-Fest after the summer we have had. With all the expenses that NCR would have to put out including port a pots and a water tank, trailer and pump, I think we would be hard pressed to break even had we decided to try it this late in the game.
Again, Good call Joe. It is almost a no brainer.
I am bummed, but our day will come!!

Dennis, go home and bother your mother.
Mister Wilson.
After our early fire season I had wrote off the flying season until hopefully Octoberfest, when there should have been more moisture. But, we didn't get enough and I think a lot of other people had just moved on to other things knowing that we probably wouldn't get to fly much more this year.
As far as the ranchers - I hardly doubt they will notice we are not there. I bet they only notice when we are there for the events. Unless of course they have a big chart on the wall and have nothing better to do than keep track of a few people on the prairie. My guess is they are probably busier than that. We also shouldn't have to impress them - as taxpayers and a permitted group we have just as much right to be on the prairie as they do.
