We launched today! Huge thanks to Kevin for bringing his launch system. It worked great! I just tallied the flight cards, and our unofficial count currently stands at 47 launches in two hours.
The Fire Marshall and/or the firetruck did not show up. He had said that it was a possibility but not a sure thing. They did come into the parking lot before we began launching, but I did not have a chance to ask about the possibility for a letter for Ft. Collins.
What a great day of launching! That sure beats hanging out at school with a bunch of kids aching for summer. My next hurdle is the one week campout to Dinosaur coming up in another week.
I had an Awesome time Dave.
Thanks for the chance for field testing the MACH 8 Launcher. I determined the problem with Pad 2 & 3, it was my terrible soldering on the DB25. This was my original demo unit I built for NARCON so it was one of my early attempts of remembering how to solder.
The 3 fuses I blew were due to the design change a week ago when I went up to heavier gauge wire. With thicker wire it can push more amps from the battery thus its more sensitive to pad shorting. I am moving up to 30A fuses and will scale back to 18Gauge pad wires in the new units. I have a few more tweaks to scale everything internal up to 30A.
Anyway, thanks again for the field testing. If anyone else in the club has any launches they are doing on their own, I would love the opportunity to either lend you the unit or come help you with your launch.

The Cheyenne Club Exposition thingy is a week from tomorrow. Joe gave me a a bunch of stuff to display and a couple of door prizes as well.
Set up is around 10am in Cheyenne.
The actual showtime is 12-4 (or 3:30, it depends on the floor we wind up being placed.
Who is willing to come and help man the booth? Even a member who lives nearer to Cheyenne than me (I'm in Longmont) could give an hour for a lunch break would be helpful.
thanks,
Hey Guys,
I am really sorry, but I am going to end up not mking it on Saturday. a brother of mine in California past away last week and I am currently in California.
I was suppose to figure out the slide show but unfortunately that computer is back in Colorado. Ed responded to me that he had some videos to send me but I haven't heard from him in a few days Maybe one of you could contact him and see if he can pass you the videos prior to Saturday.
I am real sorry for having to back out of this.
Take care and I hope it goes well
Kevin
Hey Kevin,
sorry to hear of your loss. no need to worry about anything here.
I just returned from a week out in the wilderness with my class camping trip.
Since no one else stepped forward to help out this weekend, it seems that I am going to have to step back from this as well. I have all of the necessary stuff for the display that Joe gave me, but I simply can't commit to doing the whole thing by myself for the whole day. It makes for a long day when I should be writing my end of the year reports!
I am really sorry to hear that it ended up not happening but I agree it would have been too muh for one person. Maybe we can get them next time.
Kevin
