NO GO for OKTOBERFEST 2013

NO GO for Oktoberfest. In spite of the recent moisture we’ve received, dry conditions on the prairie prompted this decision. Common sense should strongly support cancellation as the prudent and responsible action to take.

NCR’s Oktoberfest has been officially cancelled. Refunds will be issued to the few that pre-registered.

This decision should come as no surprise. This summer has been one for the record books – excessive heat, no appreciable precipitation on the Pawnee National Grassland, horrific wildfires and stressed resources. As stewards of our “permitted” parcel of prairie, given the “tinder dry” circumstances, the decision has been made to cancel NCR’s Oktoberfest for 2013.

The opportunity to fly rockets remains. There are still launch events planned to occur in October. SCORE will be hosting an opportunity to fly at the Hudson Ranch on Saturday, October 5th and Registration for the "October Fly Regional 2013" rocket contest is now open, scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, October 19th and 20th.

And Tripoli Colorado’s last launch of the season in Hartsel is also scheduled for October 20th, dependent upon weather and Fire Bans.
