So I think I read in the annual meeting info that Joe was selling all his motors. Is that right? If so, will Aerotech motors still be available for purchase at monthly launches?
Yes, Joe was selling out his stock of motors because Giant Leap is getting out of the motor business.
Joe, Jon and Ed are getting together and starting a new business to keep the flow of motors for the club.
They will be carrying less stock than Joe did with Giant Leap, so there will be a more limited selection of motors that will be available at the launches. I'm sure they'll have a way for you to place orders through them for specific motors.
I guess this is more for Joe.
Is there a listing of avail. motors left?
This sure is scary.
We have had it too easy for years.
according to Joe. He will not have on hand as big a selection, but you can place orders with the Joe/Ed/Jon motor vendor coalition for most motors. (Maybe they have a formal name for the group?)
I think the only thing different is that you may not find the motor you want on a flight day, but there will likely be something similar or close.
We can support the new motor vendor coalition by buying their on-hand motors too.
Thanks to Joe, Ed, and Jon.
I'm planning on attempting (and succeeding!) L2 certification at the March 7 launch. I need to buy a suitable J motor.
My first choice would be J350W. Backup choices would be J825R or J570W, but those are more ambitious and I would rather stay low.
Can somebody sell me the motor? Please email geofgivens@gmail.com
Thanks, and I look forward to seeing you at the next launch.
Geof
We should have you covered Geoff.
With the J350? I'll need to get the right sized case from David Pinter and the sizes differ.
J350 fits the 38/720 case. Pretty sure there's one available, either from the club or loaner stash of mine. Hope the weather cooperates.
Sorry to be pedantic and communicating poorly. I know which case fits which motor, what I was clarifying is whether you had the J350 specifically, or only one of the backups instead.
Snow should melt by then, I hope 🙂
J350 it is. Proud motor. Probably one of my favorites.
