FROM OUR FRIENDS WITH TRIPOLI COLORADO;
Well, our 10th Annual Rocket Dinner is over and done, and we wanted to take a minute to send out a big THANKS to everyone who showed up, it was great to see you all, and we look forward to seeing you on the flight line.
We had a great turnout, we filled the room, had some fun, good food, and interesting conversations, and even gave away a few great raffle prizes !!
To recap some of those recognized -
Best/Notable/Crazy flight recognition went to Dave Bauer for several different projects - way to go Dave !!
Best Project was tied 3 ways - Terry Hibbs (Harpoon on an N sparky), Dave Bauer (several projects), and James Russell (he and Vic Davis' all aluminum BALLS project made the cover of ROCKETS Magazine vol 9 iss 4) - nicely done gentlemen !
Biggest Contribution to Colorado Rocketry was also tied 3 ways ! - Joe Hinton, Jon Skuba, and Ed Dawson of the newly formed 'Moto-Joe' Rocketry ( http://moto-joe.com/ ) for their continuing and expanding support of our hobby, Matt Boyles for being the club 'mule' and his generally helpful nature, and Dave Hanson for his support and promotion of Colorado Rocketry - congratulations to all !
Ed Dawson talked a bit about Moto-Joe, their new website ( http://moto-joe.com/ ) and encouraged everyone who needs propulsion supplies (or anything else rocketry related) to give them a shout.
Ron Coffee talked about the Bruce Markielewski Memorial Rocket Contest
(see CRASH website - http://crashonline.org/ and http://www.crashonline.org/node/53 for more information and schedules).
Nadine Kinney spoke about her Rockets of High Power Calendar - they are still available for purchase, and she is seeking sponsoring vendors for next years calendar - each month there are valuable product coupons at the bottom, and each month has professional grade photography of many of the years most awesome high power projects and events from everywhere.
To participate, or to get one of these great calendars of your own link to her website - Photos by Nadine ( http://photosbynadine.com/calendar.htm ), She also has some cool rockety jewelry for sale as well.
She also talked about Green Monkey Aerospace (her husband Neil Kinney's business) and some of his products - he donated one of his cool "make it and fly" rocket kits for the raffle, totally and easily assembled on the field and ready to fly, and includes some nifty 3-D printed parts.
So go get your calendar today - they are awesome and one of the best promotions and recognition of achievement in our hobby.
Bdale Garbee spoke about a joint project he and Keith Packard put together that has gone into space - really ! ( http://www.amsat.org/?page_id=1113 and http://engineering.vanderbilt.edu/news/2016/vanderbilt-cubesat-talks-to-ham-radio-operators-worldwide/ ), he also had on display a Beta version of their expandable radio launch controller Tele-Launch, talked about the new Tele-Launch 2, and about their line of altimeters and flight controllers and recorders (Altus Metrum http://altusmetrum.org/ ).
On a more sober note - our heartfelt condolences go to Jeff Lane for the loss of his lovely wife Melinda last week.
Again, thanks to all who participate in and support our hobby - fly high and fly safe.
