We’ve checked with the District Ranger and we are OK to proceed as planned with the scheduled 6/3-5 launch, subject to normal precautions. NCR is GO for MileHighMayhem the first weekend of June on the Pawnee National Grassland at NCR’s North Site. On-site registration will be available Friday, June 3rd, Saturday June 4th and Sunday June 5th. Limited edition T-shirts have been printed, vendors have been contacted, raffle prizes collected and Port-A-Potties have been ordered for the weekend. Our waiver will be a constant 20,000’ AGL, with anticipated “windows of opportunity” for higher altitudes shots. Please let me know ASAP if you’re planning any “window” shots. We anticipate having the range set up and ready by 9 AM on Friday, and we’ll operate until 6 PM. On Saturday and Sunday, the range and waiver will be open at 8 AM. Wristbands will be required for ALL flyers and ALL flyers will need to be registered. The extended weather forecast calls for partly cloudy skies with characteristically light winds and comfortable temperatures for Spring on the prairie with the probability of afternoon thunder showers. In other words, it should be an awesome weekend for flying. Please remember that Range Safety is in everyone’s best interest.
The Pawnee National Grassland offers the ultimate in rustic, open space self sufficient camping. We are, however, limited to only one campfire in the established fire pit at the south end of the flight line. Firewood is nonexistent on the prairie so contributions are always welcomed.
Please treat our National Grassland with respect. Be considerate and responsible. If you bring it, be prepared to leave with it. Please clean up your parking and prep area before you leave and take all of your stuff with you.
Hope to see you out on the range.
Sounds like a plan... per my conventional e-mail reply, I'm available to tow both ways. I plan to set up my camp trailer on Thursday and will retrieve the rocket trailer on Thursday PM. Should have a passel o' people around to get set up early on Friday. Sun comes up @ 0529, BTW. Rise and shine.

I have a hybrid that will require the window. It sims to just over 32,000'. I'll take any day I can get for it.
Edward
Edward,
We'll look at the weather and winds aloft carefully. Thanks for the "Head's Up".
You are welcome Joe.
Also, if anyone else is going to fly a hybrid let me know - that way I can have all the equipment there.
Edward
Mr. Jack Matt. I will run and PU the trailer Thursday afternoon. I will set-up about
a third of the launch. (pads , line poles and such) Leave the tables and electronics for Friday
morning. Please let me know if there has been any major changes in set-up.
I will wait till you show to leave (if your not there) You can take your time getting
there. I am off all week. Plus.... 1/3 of the reason I got this van was to haul the launch
trailer. This would be a good time for it.
If thats OK.... Let me know.
PSSSSS. I am guessing the trailer is in the normal PU place.
PSS again. Will there be Port-A Pots for the weekend?.
And. What is the FEE for the weekend at registration?
thanks MIke S.
If not I will be there thursday afternoon.
I know the 1010 Red Pad will be there, is that the longest 1010 rail that the club has?
I would use the swingset but that uses doorknobs for rail buttons.
For my hybrid I'll probably be moving the pad I'm using out further along the road to gain some more distance.
It is an N hybrid and I'd like some additional standoff.
Edward
We are 80% set up. A lot of people started showing at about 3:00 pm. had great help
setting up.
Notes:
1. Construction between Pierce and Nunn will slow you down about 30 minutes.
2. The road from county road 122 to the launch site have been graded and topped with a
white gravel type stuff. Well done.
3. Pawnee is beautiful. Grass not as tall as expected but growing well. Green and lush
with the dry tops from last year showing. Fire hazord way down but still possable.
4. Eight mid and high power pads up and two away pads. One closer to the road as
requested. Eight low power pads as well.
5. All that is left to do is place the boxes, and put fence posts in for the ropes.
6. Friday shows to be a little breezey, saturday and sunday is to be near
perfect.
Come out and have some fun.
A wonderful weekend of launches.
Thank to all that orginized the launch. All went smooth. Had lots of help setting up and tearing down. It was a snap. 🙂
I will post what pictures I have. Had my cameras all jacked up,
did not find out till Sunday. 931 MB of picktures trash and what was left were not a lot better.
Very few launch pictures came out till sunday.
Here are the pictures. Out of five or six hundred. Here is what was useable.
Thanks Mike! Fun seeing you after so long too.
Great pics, as always, Mike. Thanks for sharing.

Forgot to mention. All four of my launches were recovered without damage (imagine that)
3" W/G80 / 4" W/J285 / 5" W/K630 / 8" W/L1115P.
Not perfect launches. All went arrow streight. My chut pushed out at epogee on the last two but with the calm weather, never walked far.
The Thor-x upscale (Accelerated Motion) had it's last launch. #4. It has went up on L730 W/2-J285 air starts, L1395 and twice on an L1115.
I had some water in my bacement a couple years ago and it swelled the airframe. Never fit togeather right after. 8" X 14' 6" It is hanging proudly from my bacement ceiling.
Hope to see all in Aug.
I have to give a huge thank you to the club and those guys who helped me so much on Sunday with pad setup and rocket loading of Lumpy for what is one of my biggest successful flights to date. It was the first time I met many of you so I dont remember names but thanks again. Also, I would love pictures or videos of the flight if anyone has em.
